So I am out with the better half on Saturday night... slowly getting w*nkered so I did the most stupid thing I could have done... I started telling her my plans for the Z and the money involved....

 

So she then went into devils advicote mode and basically made me feel a prize burk for planning to spend that much money on a car that I have already paid out shed loads for.

 

So I am sat here now totally deflated about what to do. Trying to justify to myself if it is really worth spending 4K on a bodykit, 1K on interior, 1K on ICE and 2K on new wheels and tyres. For a car that's value may or may not reflect what has been done.

 

Will I ever be in the luxurious position of being able to go out to the car and turn the key without a worry or second thought....

 

So I start to think of other avenues... what would my Z be worth as it is... how much could I get for it and what else could I buy with the money etc......

 

I have to say I am stumped as what to do......

Buzz my old mate.........we know what you're going to do, YOU know what you're going to do.

 

Once you've spent the money in your mind and imagined how your Z will look, its only a matter of time before it becomes a reality. Don't fight it.......go with the flow.........so the other half won't like it, they never do.....but you'll regret it if you don't carry out your daydreams! Don't listen to her man.......do what you want!

Just spent 4k buying the car and now looking at the following

 

Turbo's 1-1.5 k

Intercooler £600

Injectors £600

body kit 1.5k

interior £500

SE fast road rebuild 2k

various electronics 1k

 

Total £7700 + £4000 purchase price

 

Total resale value 6k if I am lucky :(

 

But on the other hand what else could give me so much fun for 12k

 

The female of the species just does not understand , getting married in August and the other half thinks nothing of spending 10k on a single day :eek: :( :confused:

I suspect that her arguement would be that a wedding day would be for both of you, the fact that a wear once only dress can cost thousands and the fact most blokes would rather get married down the boozer is irrelevant.

women love it if you spned 50grand on a car, but if you spend 6grand + 10grand on a car and get better performance and looks then they do their nut.

 

Solution is, get a rid of the woman, you'll have way more to spend on zed then

Buzz, Don't worry cars are not an investment - they depreciate cost money to mantain. Just think of the sad git who buys a brand new Mondeo and looses thousands when he goes to sell it a few years later.

The Zed is a beautiful car worth modding so don't worry just go for it.

If you are on this forum and have a Z then it is a main hobby of yours. Everyone is entitled to spend money on their hobbies!:cool:

If your missus doesn't agree then tell her you are taking up photography and as well as buying all the kit you have been asked to do some photoshoots for Playboy!!!;)

I bet she agrees that maybe spending some money on your Z isn't so bad after all!!:D :D ;)

If you want to buy a car to invest money then your on to a loser straight away cos there is no car apart from classics that will hold their value. you buy a car for the fun factor and looks not what its worth imho. My wife was not impressed with me spending£5000 to buy car and £8000 modding it but I could go and buy a new car for £13000 keep it 3 yrs and get £6000 back and have a boring supermarket car. the choice is yours u only live once . ps I told the wife it was a better ride than her lol !!

End of the day need to live within your means and have some fun, whether it be your zed, partner needs, or general consumerism, that we all do.

 

I didn't buy my zed for fuel economy, to sell it again, or to be quids in.

i bought cos it's fun, beautiful and sexy.... and it goes whoooosshh from 2nd to 3 rd gear heheheehehe

Agreed. Sorry to hear that you split up with your partner, Buzz, but going back to your original argument, if it's your money - what's her problem?

 

There's no other car like the Zed on the road (except another Zed! :D) and we pay to keep the best looking ones on the road....and we pay more to get them looking the best! :D

Sorry to hear about the missus but look on the bright side you have a Zed which will put a bigger smile and for longer than any woman could

You need to do what I did and get a girlfriend who's just as much into modified cars as you are:)

The only problem then is who's car get what spent on it (I think that made sense:D )

You're dead right! Owning a Z IS more than just owning a car, it IS a hobby! And this place only doubles the pleasure of owning one. ;)

Not only does my missus let me spend my very last penny on me Z but gives me money towards uprated parts as well, it was my birthday last week and she bought me an S-AFC II , now thats quality. (she does get to drive it sometimes though !!!)

I have a suggestion for those of you struggling with this eternal problem.

 

I sold my lovely Saab 9000 CSE Carlsson 2.3T last year and, whilst I was looking around for a nice zed to replace it with, my wife decided to quit work. So we spent 12 months on the breadline, sharing her Laguna Diesel!

 

After 12 months of me moaning and whinging she decided to go back to work and I went out and bought the zed!

 

She's very happy now cos I don't moan any more and she gets to drive her own car again!
