Hi

Im interested, so we would be looking at around £860-900

total or am I out on this one?

Stuart R:confused:

I am not absolutely sure, but I think I heard some time ago, that these pistons are made by Cosworth in Northampton. If that is so, perhaps there may be a better outlet (e.g. no import duty concern, etc...).

I thought I would mention it, but apologies if my memory is letting me down (and misleading you).

Geoff

JUN/JE pistons are made by Cosworth.

if you want (cheaper) forged pistons, I suggest you go with Wiseco pistons.

you can get them for around $600 (includes polymer coating).

The part numbers are k549m875 for 87.5 and k549m88 for 88mm overbores. Compression ratio is 8.55:1.

Thanks Lymon,

Good info at the link, have you any ideas or preferences as

to suppliers,any thoughts welcomed!

Cheers

Stuart;)

Thanks Eric, you are right it was JUN, and not Tomei. Apologies for my memory, but perhaps it started a good lead for the guys?

Interestingly I have been thinking about a Wiseco piston for my Yamaha Enduro bike. They also have a place here in the UK, down in Swanley, Kent - see http://www.wiseco.co.uk - their price list gives a price for our engines too.

Geoff

Stuart, personally I wouldn't go with Tomei's, because they only have 89mm pistons and a bore of that size is too risky on our engines.

One of every 5 blocks once sonic tested will test negative for anything bigger than a 87.5mm piston and may crack if bored bigger.

Hi Eric,

I have decided to look into the Wiseco setup but basically I have decided for a full engine rebuild, not that the engine is damaged or-

done space shuttle miles-just that as I have decided to completely rebuild the car and engine,I am upgrading and looking to build as much reliability as possible(lmao)into the engine with pistons, rods, metal gaskets etc as using warmer than stock parts.

I have already got turbos, intercoolers, induction and some control sorted but need to get all important internals sorted, not radically but practical and the car wont be everyday use!

Cheers

Stuart :D
