Hi,

Help required...

I'm buyin a pair of rear tyres this week....

Should i get BridgeStone So3's or the Toyo's?

I can get Bridgestones locally for about £113 but i can't find the Toyo's (not sure which model i need).

Any suggestions?

Dan

Hi Dan,

I got a pair of S-03s 225 rears (original Japanese size not 245 UK size) in Jan for £190.35 fitted balanced etc. Mobile bloke as well so will come out. At least he will if you are anywhere near Bracknell! Als Tyres 0771 432 7488

Are they any good?

I've heard the Toyo's are the best along with the SO2's

But the so3's arent as good?

How have you found them?

Dan

I've found them fine but then I might well be the slowest driver on this forum!

Certainly the Toyos have an excellent reputation.

I've used Toyo Proxes for several years now and they certainly get my vote - wet/dry/track.. any conditions really !

If you're running on standard rims then you should still be able to get the damage warranty for free with them too ! Not if you've upgraded to 17's though

i've heard Toyos on the rear grip really well but wear quickly.

I hope they don't wear anymore quickly than my Bridgestones, I have trouble stretching them to 8K !!!

I'd say totally the opposite - the tread wear is unbelievable for a performance tyre !

I've only had Toyos myself, but a mate with a WRX Impreza has had both. The Bridgestones only stretched to 6k but the Toyos went on for over 10k, both including some track use !! ;)

He said the S02's were very marginally better in the dry but certainly no better in the wet and that the price difference is even more pronounced when you consider how much longer the tread lasts.

on the rear of my 200SX, the Toyos have really lasted. But guy in garage "reckoned" that rear tyres on a 300ZX is a different matter and will wear a LOT quicker....maybe due to HICAS and extra weight of a 300 ??

Could be he gets sideways more often than I do.

Might change once I get the traction control on but I tend to prefer facing forwards ;)

I've had SO2s on two Z znd then Toyo proxies and the Toyos win hands down.

I have the SO3 on my car, they are Awesome, best tyre i have tried. But then again in the real world how many of us really push a tyre to the limits enough to notcie the difference between different tyres? (personally the only difference i have noticed with the different tyres is how they aquaplain) i have had

so2' so3' goodyear eagle.

And the Jap tyres my car came with Bridgestone Potenzas (best of the lot)

I'm seriously considering defecting to Toyo's for my next change (quite soon) and if they're crap then I'll be coming round to all you Toyo lovers and demanding a refund ! LOL :D

Toyos mate! Every time. http://www.mytyres.net

I've tried everything and they're quite simply the best. Anyone who recommends anything else, ask them if they've had the Toyos on. No one who's had them recommends anything else.

Yeah I got toyo's too :) Fantastic tyres! I went through a set of rears though in 1200 miles due to the rear tracking being wildly out - the toe in was at 24mm rather than 0-4mm LOL. Due to cost (265/35 ZR18s cost a lot lol) I had to replace with Fulda Extremos which are OK but the traction control is permanently on these days so I think once mid mileage is reached on them they are shot :( Still got the Toyos on the front though and they are wearing fine - apart from excessive inside wear due to, yep you guessed it, tracking probs :D Next set of tyres I get is DEFFO Toyos though ;)

CheerZ,

Andy
