I drive a 998cc Austin metro at the moment!, and the 300zx is a TT manual.

Enjoy, .......be careful!

I thought going from a 1.1 fiesta 55 bhp to a 171 bhp 200sx about 5 years ago was a dramatic change, but this must be some kind of record. Blimey.

Unfortunately my 200sx ended in a crumpled heap - so yes, be CAREFUL!.

I did the 60bhp to 300bhp jump. :D

Frightening but I have respect for the car and I dont want to kill anyone.

Excellent Tom,

I hope you have great fun getting hit home from Dover.

I guess you are going start converting it to have rear fog lights and all the EUC checks etc.

Have you got this booked in already ?. Is it pre registered.

I know we all probably sound like your dad, but be very careful becuase these cars don't like to stay facing forward too often.

May I reccomend Racr Logic Traction control. It's the safer way to drive a TT without taking any of the fun out of it (IMO you can actually have more fun and not have to worry too much about crshing your car).

Good luck Tom and congratulations.

Wouldn;t mind seeing some pic's when you can ;)

Hope you have years of fast, safe fun with it mate !

If you do decide to take Stuart's advice and go for the traction control option then we've got a group buy going at the mo ! (several hundred quid off the RRP!). ;) Just use the search tab to scan the forum for all the threads about Racelogic Traction Control to see other drivers' views !

In the meantime don't boot in the wet, at least 'til you get used to it. Your first powerful RWD usually catches you out at least once, until you know what to expect !!

PS. sorry to sound like Grandad ! :D

It is true actually.

After i had my car for a month or so i came off a roundabout onto the start of a dual carrageway and the road bends to the left, no one was around, it was wet and i was only goin slow. Thought id kick the back end out a little, it popped out to the right, i shouted something along the lines of "fooook mee!!" and i slowly drove home with stained pants but pumping adrenaline..:p And i was only doing about 20!

welcome Tom,lots of grinning in store.Watch it in the wet, only had my tt two days, damp road, dropped it into 3rd to overtake as i used to in my GSI and was facing the other way in seconds, whacks the heartrate up with the turbos,so gently at first, but youll love it. :D

last night i was out in the rain doing 85mph when a gti6 was annoying me,for a brief moment i forgot about the power and put my foot down in 4th,shat myself went sideways, went white, went home and gave myself a good slap in the face,be very carefull its just too easy......... have fun

A word of advice. the guys here know what they are talking about. i just bought a Zed in November 02. i went from a ford escort 1.6 to a 3L TT. i thought i would be ok but on my first day i ended up sideways and smashed my rear alloy, bent the wishbone and scrapped the side skirts. £2000 pounds later (new alloys and repairs) i learnt my lesson. remember, THIS WAS ON MY FIRST DAY.

may the force be with you and good Zedding!!!!!!

rav

basically the major difference is the fact you are going froma FWD to a RWD car,

I did a leap from 67BHP RWD car to a 280BHP zed RWD, I learnt a lot driving the old RWD car that has meant I havnt had many instances in the zed except for the occasional slide.

One good thing is that if you know what you are doing the zed is extremely easy to ring under control, touch wood I have never spun it yet.

Zed is a more of a lign it up before you put power down sort of car :)

but if you never get it sideways, you just aint driving it right :)

as long as it's dry don't worry, if u can drive it will not be a problem ....... the thing will just go like fook in the dry ....

the rain ..... just more fun with less speed :)

Anyway enough of the scare tactics ;)

Welcome to the board and the land of Z

Stuart

Welcome to the club m8 :)

Believe what the others are saying m8

DRIVE IT SIDEWAYS :)

Welcome Tom and enjoy it safely.

As the guys say just remember the power in the ZX and respect it !!!

But its great.

Geoff.
