Hi,

I just bought a ZX300TT on a 1990...

It is a tasty car.. but am having a couple of probs and would be grateful for any advice.

The 3 probs I have are:

The expansion tank, for the rad, had a split in it and chucked crap our all over the place. I have replaced the exp tank, and the car is running fine... but the water level goes up a bit in the exp tank... and it does not seem to be a pressurised tank..... any ideas..?

A red light comes on ... on the dash ... it looks like a pie thing... with steam coming off..... then it goes off for 10 mins ... then it comes on ... goes off....

What does it mean? and why is it coming on...

Lastly it has an HKS turbo timer.... with some electronic thing on the dash and some thing that looks like a heart, with pipes in and out of it under the bonnet... sometimes when the ignition is on ... it clicks ... life is strange at the mo... any ideas....

Any help would be great... im lost for idea's...

please email panda@subbass.co.uk

Thanking you in advance

Panda,

I think the light is just your windscreen washer resevoir is empty.

Don't worry too much about the overflow tank..as long as it isn't leaking.

More important is that the radiator-cap is working and is releasing pressure out of the system when needed.

That thing under the bonnet probably is some sort of solenoid..maybe a leftover from a boost-controller.

Where do the pipes out of this thing run to ?

Yup. Sound like the Lambda Sensor!

Your exhaust/Cats are overheating. The engine is probably not running correctly. The "usual" cause of this is a coil pack connector being loose causing the car to run on 5 cylinders. This in turn pushes hot, unburnt fuel down the exhaust hense the overheat.

Does the light go out when you stop or slow down and then turn on when you accelerate or are cruising?

Does the engine feel lumpy? If not, you may just have a faulty sensor.

Andy

Guys, doesn't that light come on wich a check written accross it?

Vijay

Thanks very much for your advice chaps...

I will have a dig around under the bonnet and get back to you...

Once again.. cheers
