its a jap spec, with km odometer and mph speedo fitted!

The easiest way is just to drive it very quickly! :D

Otherwise, have a look in the passenger footwell by the ECU and see if you have a small box connected to the wiring harness to the ECU, possibly called an SLD.

The chip itself could also have been reprogrammed to remove the limiter, but if it isn't socketed, that hasn't been done.

I'm sure there are other ways that it could have been done as well.

To be absolutely sure, go out and try and get to 130mph (mine generally cut out at around 120mph when it was still limited).

Jap cars limited to 112/115 I think, so if you get to that it will not go any further and you wil hear a ping ping noise similar to lights left on warning.

De- limit can be done through speedo conversion nad reset cruise at same time.

The ping noise occurs at 120kph (or something like that), i.e. around 68mph. When you hit the speed limiter, the car will just stop accelerating - there is no audible warning, at least there wasn't on mine.

hi guys,my japtt clocked 156mph and ran out of road(private road of course;) and was still pulling, god i love thi car.:D

That's correct (although your clocks are probably quite inaccurate) becuase the Jap ECU is limited to 180kph (~112mph), however, if you put a speedo convertor on it then it changes the signal to report the equivalent of 180mph. Now that you've changed the clocks you need to change the ECU too !

J spec, uk clocks, 125mph max, no ping just misfires like a F1 car

My clocks are to quote " the most accurate I have ever tested". This from the SVA man, he ran it up on his rolling road, which he says is "Accurate, period". My clocks were one mph over at 70, so he tried it higher and they stayed at one over. ie it read 70 when it was doing 69.

I have had indicated 145 on mine, same ECU, pulling close on 6k revs. so seemed about right!

the limiter is on the speedo sender to the ECU, so if you remove that, which is what I understand they do then it you can max away!

Annyway it seems to have worked.

Nope, the limiter is in the ECU - trust me !

Jap is limited to 180kph, UK to 155mph. Aftermarket ECU maps always modify the limiter. (Remember the post about ECU tuning for everyone)

One of the 'other' ways to remove the limiter is to get a little black box between the speedo and the ECU on the speed sensor signal line. When most cars are converted from Jap spec they put the black box before the speedo, so that both the speedo effectively displays MPH and the ECU is fooled into thinking it's going slower than it actually is.

Mine were also similarly 'spot on' whilst I had the converter box, but now I have the UK spec clocks they overread by a fairly consistent 4-6mph. One day I will fix it ...

Ah!, so thats how they do it. Thanks

Anyway works for me, thats why it cost about £145 then.

Mine was exactly the same - UK clocks and the limiter kicked in at 125mph.

I've tested my speedo at 90mph on a GPS unit and the speedo was only reading 92mph. Gave me a bit of a shock as I'd been driving round assuming it overread by 10%! :D

So, I can't imagine that my indicated 125mph was really 112.

Mines limited to 112, i look at it as my friendly little reminder that im going too fast, i darent have it removed as if will do 150mph id want to test it and either break it or lose my licence (not again!!!)

Its got J spec clocks with a mph face on it which only goes to 110mph and it backs off just past the 110 mark, only bonus with these clocks is it doesnt half look like youre accelerating fast!!

That what I thought, I did think, prior to hiitting the limiter, that mine must have been de-limited, but alas no. Funny how it seems to 125mph though.

One good thing, if you have a race you can always blame the limiter if you loose.

Mine is delimited but I still get the ping noise when I go over 80 or ninety - can't remember exactly.

Geoff.

Mine is limited

When i hit 110 kph i get a funny noise and when i get to about 185-190 kph it stops going

i got a little box off a mate with 4 wires and it suppose to change the speedo to mph

does anyone know how to fix them ?

it suppose to go on the back of the speedo, it is the right one for a 300zx just dont no how to fit it

If you fit the " little box with four wires" correctly it will 'de-limit 'and change the speedo to read MPH. Unfortunately it will also "trick " your car into thinking it's travelling at say 50MPH when it is actually travelling at 80MPH with consequent effects on power steering and Hicas. Also the "little box"which is actually modifying the signal from the gearbox speed sensor has come from "who knows where" and may not be as reliable as the electronics as designed by Nissan.

The correct way to delimit is to alter the data in the ECU.

The correct way to get the clock reading MPH is to change the calibration resistor in the speedo.

How much does this cost and where can i get it done in the guildford / basingstoke area then?

burf2000. Looking at your posts you've got a 91 N/A. If you want I can supply you with a converted speedo and either a modified chip that you can fit to your ECU or an ECU with a modded chip fitted for £50. Phone 01506 494494.

what £50 for both?

how easy is it to fit ?
