when i put my foot down and lift up on the brake pedal a screeching noise comes from the front brakes. braking seems to be ok.

 

any suggestions welcome, thanks in advance

Check that you have the two shims between the brake pads and the piston and that there is a smear of Copaslip on all those faces.

That usually does the trick.

it could just be that your pads are worn.

Nissan engineered a VERY high tech solution and fully computer controlled method to warn you when the pads are worn wink.gif

When the pads need to be replaced, a small metal strip on the pads is touching the discs everytime you brake and this causes the screeching..

Hmmm, now that's odd, because my Z hasn't got that type of pad, but my mates import MR2 Turbo (hairdressers car!) has .... They're not shown in the service manual either.

cheers guys, will have to take a look.

 

in my first post i may have been a little misleading i suppose its more of a cranking noise than screeching and there is no noise during braking.

 

its probably time for a pad change anyway.
