Hi,

I take it that you have the early Jap spec. door mounted "passive" seatbelts?

If so, these were designed for the US market to be left permanently buckled up as a passive restraint, much like an airbag.

How you are meant to slide into the car, underneath them, I don't know! (don't let anyone open the door while you've got it buckled up whilst stationary...as you get pulled out of the car by your neck!;) )

On my car they used to remain loose unless you pulled them out about a foot, and let go, when they would retract and stay snug to the body.

I believe they retract/tighten electrically in the event of an impact and on my car they would tighten up when you turned the engine off too.

Cheerz,

JEZ

thanks for the reply it's still a pain because you don't feel safe with them not being a snug fit

I know what you mean. I dont feel safe if its not tight against me.

Has any one noticed that the seat belt locks when the car is leaning forward or backwards slightly?

I have trouble looking when I pull out of my street which is on a hill because the seatbelt has lock with me sitting right back.

I found at the weekend that if you press the release button for the belt, it tensions up. My belt was all loose (like I'd lost loads of weight suddenly!) - I went to release and put it on again, and as I pressed the button it tightened all snug. Do this stationary though...
