Get another car!!!!!!

I was a little worried about getting another car, because it means, more tax more insurance, more maintaince another MOT and would I really save that much money after it all.

But I put £28 of petrol in my Corsa, which filled it up, done over 100 miles and I have not even used a 1/4 of the tank yet. Makes a difference from £20 lasting 100 miles and only just.!

One problem though, is its damn slow. :( but in the long run well worth it.

Any one else find having a 2nd car easier on the pocket?

it made me love my zed even more as it costs twice as much petrol to run it,so i sold the landrover and kept the zed:) :)

since buying my pug it is amazing how long fuel can last, I used to get through a tenner a day in the 300 now that lasts 4 days , just difficult to decide which one to take in the morning ;)

Recently bought a mini cooper(old shape) for the wife ( she's still learning/and learning to drive.. )

the car i use form my job is a peugeot 306 tdi. on average £30 per week for poodling around and motorways does the job.

took zed out last night to test delimiter, petrol light on - so £10 optimax, quick burn to test etc etc, 9 bloody miles later, light on again.......BUT worth ever dime:D :D :D

Blimey..........I dream about £20 lasting for 100 miles.........I get 60 at most!:(

Clarkey - how big is the Merc's tank!

I used to think the milage on my Z was reasonable, until I realised that the tank was a lot bigger that my old car.

Yes you people forget that the tank is 72 litres. My Corsa is a 40 litre tank. So the Z is nearly twice as big and I will only get about 250 miles ish on a long run on a full tank, while the Corsa will do over 400 on a full tank and thats mostly round town too.

I am really hopeful that this will save me money. So far so good.

Nothing wrong with being up at 5 am and watching the F1...it's what I was doing. :D Watching all those cars spin off at corner 5..

I use a Peugeot 307 for daily use as it's the company car and even the amount of mileage that I do, the petrol bill is cheap.

Worked it out the other day and if I'd done the same amount of miles in the Zed as I have in the Pug, it would have cost me just under £7K alone in petrol! In a year! :D

I worked out that I spend between £2000-£3000 a year on petrol and I dont really go anywhere. God knows where it all goes.

Well I have just got myself a brand new 1.3 Yaris (paid for by my boss), and on putting £23.80 worth of petrol in the car and it has done 340 miles. Slightly different from the Supra!! which was costing me £35 ++ for 250 miles.

Now I can save even more money on parts for the two Supras. The Yaris is VERY slow but comfortable, and if anybody tries to cut me up, god help them lol

Supragirl.

Never mind the Supra v 300zx rivalry.

I reakon Nissans Micra would kick yaris butt big style :D

Nissan Micra?? Pah :D

Are you sure that the Nissan Micra would beat the Yaris Turbo version out soon??

Not that I think anybody here will be remotely interested in this but just in case..

Taken from Evo website..

Rumours about the existence of the MINI Cooper S rival have been circulating for some time, but now Auto Express has learned the car is only weeks from launch. And here are the first official pictures of the pocket rocket due to be unveiled in Japan in mid-January, hitting showrooms there soon afterwards. The hot Yaris should debut in the UK before the end of 2003.

Tweaked by TRD, Toyota's tuning and motorsport arm, the newcomer will sport a blown 1.5-litre engine pumping out nearly 160bhp - that's 51bhp more than the Yaris T Sport launched in 2000. The turbo is also said to have had a marked effect on the unit's torque output, which will rise to 196Nm, up from 145Nm. A reworked five-speed manual gearbox channels the power to the front wheels, while a limited-slip differential will help alleviate the torque steer commonly associated with high-powered front-wheel-drive cars.

Performance should be phenomenal - a 0-60mph time of seven seconds is expected, with a top speed of 130mph putting the Yaris firmly in MINI Cooper S territory. To cope with the extra power, the firm's engineers have been working on the already-agile chassis. A firmer suspension set-up will sharpen the handling, and the car will also get wider tyres and lightweight alloy wheels. Styling alterations will include fatter wheelarches and a small roof spoiler. Our sources tell us the hot Toyota will be badged RS Turbo when it goes on sale in Japan. But because of potential copyright problems with Ford over the RS tag, the newcomer is likely to be called the T Sport T when it arrives in British showrooms. Prices are expected to start at £15,000.

Meanwhile, a CVT automatic version is due to join the range. Japanese buyers can specify the new transmission from March 2003, with the option offered here in late summer. The auto is expected to cost £1,250 more than a standard five-speed manual model.

Nissan news.....Hello.....?

ALOVERA(nissan almera)got one for her in doors, after she'd had the car a couple of weeks,I asked her how it was doing petrol wise ,she said brilliant the best car she'd owned.Hardley use's any.Till I sat in it with her and said the tanks on empty. To this she replied,no the tanks 1/2 full the needle takes awhile to come up.I said which gauge are you looking at,she pointed to the heater gauge.BLESS HER!

...and you're letting this woman out onto the roads!

;)

Ha ha! Continuing the "silly other half car stories", my ex was learning to drive and after half an hour or so she said to the instructor that she was rather concerned and that there was something wrong with the engine. like it was severly over-heating.

The instructor explained nothing was wrong and asked her why she thought what she did.

It turns out that the heater was directed onto her feet but she didn't think you direct the heater (assumed it only came up towards the windscreen) and thought it was the heat from the engine coming through!!!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Bless her lttle cotton socks!
