Hiya GuyZ,

Just thought I'd share this one with you all. Just given the car such a hard caning that the brake pads were litteraly smoking when I got home biggrin.gif Nice dry roads with not many people on them - and I know I said in my last post DON'T SPEED but this was an exception biggrin.gif I've never seen my pads actually smoke before due to heat - this was cool as.......

I hope you did give your brakes a good cool down afterwards, otherwise your discs are now probably toast and your Z will turn into a 300bhp vibrator whenever you hit the brakes wink.gif

The rotors are already more twisted than Gary Glitter mate so it doesn't matter biggrin.gif After the first 10 seconds of caning the bastard the steering wheel was tryin' to throw my hands through the window.... biggrin.gif

Hey up And,

That's made me think a bit, only a bit mind you!!!

Knackered, have just driven to Brum and back to the NEC to get some tickets for the Spanish Riding School of Vienna display in November...fooked!

Anyway, what I was going to ask Eric is this...

Is there a drawback to fitting aftermarket alloys as they may not provide the same cooling as the original alloys?

In my Z companion book(excellent) they were saying that the original wheels were designed to provide maximum cooling for the brakes.

What do you guyZ think?

I never actually realised at the time but......

How many times have you heard that??? Its true!!! It didn't click at the time but fitting the OZ superT's made the brakes slowly (but quicker than the original..) fade. I hadn't realised this before I read the book but that's when it clicked - fitting aftermarket wheels ruins the brake performance frown.gif I didn't want to point this out but since you mentioned it - it wasn't me!!!! in a shaggy type stylee!!!

CheerZ,

Andy

I've done that myself and it's what destroyed my 3 month old disks costing £350!

I had clouds of smoke coming from the arches.

Hmmm...didn't know that about the stock wheels.

I wonder what happens if you fit the stock wheels the wrong way (whith the holes pointing the wrong way.)

Anyway..you would think that alloys that let more air through (like the 5 spoke types) would allow the brakes to cool better.

You can also fit the brake-airducts of a R33...they're bigger..so they're better wink.gif
