I'm not starting a Manual Vs Auto or UK Vs Import discussion here! ;)

What are the "true" performance times of Auto TT Zeds?

I have searched this site and seen loads of conflicting information.

Some posts say 7.5 secs to 60???

WTF! That's slower than a quick hot hatch!

Other info says they are 5.5-5.7 to 60 and Nissan say they are faster to 100 than a manual.

Also I have seen loads of different power figures showing the UK Auto is around 260BHP compaired to the US/Jap 280HP...

Is this true or just a UK Vs Import thing?

I don't mind an auto cause I like them and do lots of traffic driving, but I don't want an auto if it's going to be 2 seconds slower to 60 and have problems keeping up with a manual above that:(

Not that I'm likely to find out on the road, but it's the thought of being slower that hurts! :p

I'm hoping I'm not going to have to try and find a Jap/US manual :(

Buy an import, they're cheaper, and you can get the proper 2 seater, short arse wheel base version!!

:D :D :D

:(

I'm sure it had folding mirrors....I saw the button on the centre console...

Does the power button actually make any difference then?

I would hazard a guess that it's not that important if it's not on all the cars...

Hold would be handy for all the frost and shite weather we get here though.

Oh and short arse or not, I love the look of the Zed so would be happy with a long one or short one ;)

I believe UK cars have heated mirrors, maybe that was the switch you saw?

As for the POWER switch making a difference?......it makes a BIG difference mate!:D :D ..........and yes, hold is very useful in the right circumstances.

How does the power button work?

It can't suddenly increase engine power so it must drop the autobox down a cog, therefore work like kick down?

Am I correct?

I'll also check the mirror button and see what it does.

On all cars I have been in before mirrors heat with the rear screen heater.

But then this is a jap designed car so may be different.

The POWER button just holds out the revs alot longer before changing up. It doesn't drop a gear when you switch it on. It does automatically come on when you floor it, when it kicks down, it will kickdown whether the POWER button is on or off.

The power button simply modifies the shift points of the box - essentially it holds the gears longer even when you're not at WOT - at WOT, the power mode is automatically engaged, and it will hold the gear till almost the redline.

If the car has foldy mirrors, and a power/hold button (it's one button, a three position rocker switch that does Power/Normal/Hold), then the car is a Japanese import.. No UK cars had the Power/Hold button, and I'm 99.99999% sure that no UK cars had foldy mirrors.

Check the VIN plate - if there is no UK style VIN number, it's an import - no matter what the seller tells you...

[edited to grumble coz I was beaten to it :D]

My UK car will do that,if you select first or second it will bounce off the rev limiter, until you hit D,leave it in D with OD off and it will do 140mph,then when it is bouncing off the rev limiter and you hit OD it fookin takes off:rolleyes:

If by POWER button you mean Overdrive, then you are only partly right. The Overdrive setting allows the use of a parallel set of gears while also holding the gear for longer (higher revs). I don't know how it does this, but it does. So an auto 300 has 8 forward gear ratios.

I guess I'll have to play with it :p

The autos I have driven before have 1st/2nd/Drive/Nuetral/Park.

I think you're a nutter if you lock it down to 1st or 2nd then redline it! :p

It's supposed to be for hill climbing etc...

Never had overdrive before though :)

But I like the sound of the Power button :( ;)
