has anyone got/had a problem with the seals round the door leaking? Mine look pretty new but I noticed when its raining, I get drips of water from the rubber seal round the passenger seat door, is this due to the TTops? is it the same for everyone to get a few drips? or should my car be water tight.

Seems to mainly happen after I open the door when its raining, maybe a few drips are falling done or getting trapped any suggestions?

Yeah, I've got this problem as well frown.gif Probably wouldn't have happened on brand new zeds but will no doubt be a common problem due to the design....

CheerZ,

Doesn't happen on mine. Are your seals worn or your penguins tired?

When you wash your car, does it leak inside then?

I had this problem too when I purchased my Z... I didn't know whether it was the rubber on the t-tops themselves or the rubber on the door surrounds, but when I found a crashed Z, I purchased it's tops and hey presto...no more drips. The more often the tops are removed and replaced, the more you obviously wear the rubber (the type they used is not all that durable). The design of them is not the best they could have opted for either. Due to the angles, and weight which they are continually supporting (added to the climate change) it get's to the stage where there's a little more 'give' than there should be... so standing water drips through (more often when the car moves and the wind pushes it into the cracks. Doesn't happen when you wash the car - if it does...find yourself some new rubber pronto!

Otherwise...I remember reading somewhere when I first came here, that someone had a nifty idea of wedging little foam pieces inside to expand the rubber out a bit. This seemed too much agro for me though....so I found that a carefully placed layer of black silicon does the trick. Looks a tad unsightly if it's not 100% perfect though.

I'm sure there'll be other suggestions to assist you though ! Failing that....if anyone has this problem and all solutions have failed... I still have those T-Tops and rubber surrounds...and might be willing to part with them for a tidy wedge !

(They're metallic grey...and due to the colour of my car, I still have them as I didn't have the money to get them resprayed to match)

...it happens to mine (10 year old), and can be improved by bending in (be carefull) the window stop. It's a small plastic covered metal centred tab at the top of each front window.

...good luck

Also, silicone spray is suppose to help re-vitalise old rubber and even make it expand a little, if you leave the sprayed part out/open over night.

I've tried this myself a few times, with little difference. But it's cheap and worth a go.

Oh god I can see the remarks to this one already, have you tried vaseline it works on mine just smear it around the joint before putting the roof back in. It also gives you an interesting talking point if someone goes in your glove box.

Nope doestnt happen when I wash the car, only in heavy rain when the car is moving I think. Also it drips from half way down the front passenger window from the part between the front passenger window and the windscreen itself, seems wierd, so what is this thing I can bend/push? is it that mteal strip thing beside the rubber?

My tailgate fills up with water when I wash the car, then pisses in the boot and over the rear speakers next time I open it. Doesn't seem to happen after rain though ...

A few things to try:

Adjust targa tops. The brackets that the two pins go into can be adjusted. This can also stop sqeaking in cold weather.

The door window might not be going up high enough. Taking of the interior panel reveals a "stop" bracket. This can be adjusted alowing the window to rise that extra bit.

"Armour All" the weather stripping. Worth greasing the metal pins too. This can stop the enoying sqeaking in cold weather.

There is a drain hole either side, at the top. These can get blocked. Check it out.
