After I get the resurrected beast back from jeff at the weekend the next job is going to be to get my exhaust blow seen to (quite a nasty one).. and thought I may as well start investigating exhausts and prospects of a de-cat job.

Firstly, which is a decent system to go for? Jeff mentioned the Mongoose supplied by ZCentre is pretty good...

Secondly is it worth having the de-cat job done, if so, by who, any horror stories, and how much performance gain is there? It's a mid 1990 H plate so legally speaking it's okay for a de-cat.

I just de-catted about a month ago and what a difference. 3 rd gear pulls even more!!!! You've just got to be careful with those dreaded turbo seals.............

p.s - did you get my mail?;)

Yes Mate,

I would say the majority of people on here who have had the Decat jobby, have had their turbo seals go!

So be prepared, 500 notes for the exhaust £1000 for the tubs and minimum £500 for fitting!

The majority has spoken then! LOL

OK then a significant proportion of people have them go, I just haven't had time to do an empirical study!

:D

i had mine done over 2 years ago and no probs (but then the car has been in the garage for 1.11 months :D) and no problems for me :D

i did a bit of research into this and from what i can gather, i dont think it will be a problem because you should still have enough backpressure there to be alright. I think alot of them are down to turbo condition in the first place.

Cool, ta for the advice guys,

I spoke to Luke @ ZCentre yesterday about it, going to get a mongoose system with straight-thru's on. £720 all inc was the final price for the job, so will probably get that done when I have my rear spoiler whipped off and the back sealed.... oh and the rear lights done to 99 spec... oh and the centre panel... and the wheels.... and the headlamps....

oh bugger I appear to be about to spend a lot ;)
