Took the car out on Saturday, filled up at my usual shell garage and as i went to pay the guy behind the counter said what a wicked Cavalier i had and what kit did i have on it. (twat), Should have known that my day would go from bad to worse........

Picked me mum up as she wanted to go for a spin and had my first challenge since owning the car from a white scooby who drove 6 inches from my back side goading me. Anyways put me foot down on a straight road all the way to 110 and the guy stayed 6 inches from my back side all the way WTF. as the bends started coming up slowed down and he went past.

I have an Auto running a MINES ECU at 12PSI Aftermarket intake and full aftermarket exhaust including de-cat.

What the hell was the Scooby running ?????????????

My car does not seem that fast from about 80 upwards any ideas how i can improve this ???

Featured Replies

me mums pretty cool like that (v small couldn't see over the dash anyway)

Blimey, from 80 upwards I would say thats where the Z's come into their own. I know mine feels strong from 60 onwards where other cars have lost their puff. I am running similar mods to you, well excactly the same as it happens, maybe a tad higher PSI.

So not sure whats up........could be a thousand reasons I suppose...sorry, thats not much help is it?

(The Cavalier bit made me laugh!)

Run an ECU Diag, you may find a problem.

But I know i'll get boo'd here, but scoobys are quite fast. They have nothing on a Z past 144 mph though LMAO.

Gotta agree with Stu there......they are pretty rapid!

I would never buy one-but they sound nice!!

Did the usual ECU check and all is fine

Just looked at the ZX Org site and and they seem to think that at 7200rpm in 3rd on an Auto is 139 MPH my speedo shows 120mph

at this speed so perhaps my speedo is up the creek and i am going much faster than i think , using 17inch wheels but would not have thought it would make that much differance.

Bagins,

mate i have to agree with u there. When i first got my auto i was always on here complaining about how my 300 felt slow around 60-80ish, even though thats when they're known to kick-ass? i've put it down to a shite rebuild and it being an auto! Kick down isnt brilliant....hopefully once ive had my eng rebuilt i may get a manual conversion or just sell it? too many probs with this auto:rolleyes:

jaz

p.s. Bagins, did you do the auto diag? not the main, eng1? also go through all ur connectors (make sure there aint loose) tps, speed sen etc cos on the left side of the eng bay there are a few connectors that are linked to the autobox...that do make a hell of a diff;)

My biggest "smile" factor at the mo in my auto is on the motorway, say around 80ish, with overdrive off, it pulls more than Justin Timberlake.

As JAZ says-check your connectors maybe and run ecu diag.

ok so how do i do the autobox diagnostic preferably using the little connector by the bonnet catch if poss

Thanks

My mates WRX is the only car ever to shame me on the road. :(

Off the mark they are phenomenal but once you're both rolling you should be able to hold your own at the very least !

Imports (WRXs, STIs etc) are a lot quicker than uk Scoobys so you can't go by the performance figures ! 22Bs are insane (GTR league!)

Ok so went home at lunchtime to do the Auto diagnostic and i do not have an A/T light i am presuming that it is in the left hand side block of 6 lights (3 above 3) none of these lights have ever worked so presumed that all was ok but after reading various threads on here it seems they should all come on when turning the key , any body know where the fuse is for this bunch of lights

Well at least i am hoping it's only a fuse :( and not someone disconneting the lights for a reason
