Hi All,

I have some ramps which I used to use for my 2.5 ton BMW. These are the simple singular drive up ramps.

Has anyone used these to get the font of the car up before ?.

When it comes to clearance on the front of the car. Can we drive straight up them or do we need to jack a side up at a time and give them a head start ?

Would be interested to know how you get your front end up (ooh-er missus);)

Depends how low your bumper and exhausts are... Personally I would give the car a headstart, given that they have a ground clearance of about 4mm. :D

Well, actually, PERSONALLY I would put her over the pit at home. :D

To lift the front up I jack it up with the car jack first to lift the springs then I can get the trolly jack under it.

Make sure you move the car jack when the car is up, you dont want to bring the car down on it.

You can usually just pull the trolly jack out when you are finished because the suspention is a little higher cos its not settled.

Thanks Anita.

I may did myself a pit in the front garden. Not sure my missus would be too happy but maybe If I just make sure my car is parked there whenever she exit's or enters the house, I could get away with it :D.

I'll try getting he up on the ramps tonight. I need to see what damage that big rock did to my car that I ran over :(

Alternatively rest some thick wooden planks part way up the ramps to make the angle a bit shallower (this trick worked when the AA had to put mine on a low-loader when my autobox turned to mush :( )

I've heard that the heavy front end of a 300 is prone to falling off ramps. So be careful.

Falling off ramps ?. Well I guess that depends on the driver :D. I'll make sure I have someone watching the wheels. Thanks all.

Remember, that if it's just the front you're ramping up, to put some blocks behind the back wheels to prevent it rolling backwards...

Simple and common sense, but not something to be forgotten. :)

Neet.

(Sorry - "Anita" feels like I'm being told off. ;))

Neet. :D

I usually wheel it up on a kerb and slide under

its a bit tight but i fixed my exhaust that way :)

You cant bloody leave your car alone can ya mate!!

ive had mine up on those ramps a few times all i did was jack it up a little bit at the front then you can just drive on up

Marc:D :D

You mean Jack it up slide the ramps in place then release the jack, or drive it with the trolley jack still lifting the car ?

you only need to jack it up a little bit slide the ramps under make sure the handbrake is on then you can lower it and drive straight up good luck mate

Marc;)

LOL Mike. You've met me !!!!. I'm not quite as slim as you, can you see my sliding under the fron tof my Z will one wheel is on the kerb. I may be able to get an arm under it that way, but there's no way the rest of me will fit ;) .

Nice thought though :(.

Right I used a few bricks each side in the end.

i.e. drive onto two bricks side by side (only 1 brick high), push ramps in place then use another two bricks either side to build up the ramp, from this point you can just drive up all the way.

While I was under there I got covered in ATF, it was still red so I got a leak somewhere before it even gets to the power steering :( . Hopefully sort it out by Saturday.

Thanks for all your ideas.
