August 29, 20232 yr Not my photo - these Z1 Disco boxes are out for Beta testing on a select few cars and should be available in the next few months. Good news for everyone that wants a selin but doesn't want to spend £1000 on one!
August 29, 20232 yr I knew about these a little while back as I was developing the same thing with an electrical engineer friend of mine. I got in touch with Z1 to discuss potential market and distribution and they mentioned they were close to releasing their first prototypes and that it was a shame we were only just reaching out as they would have collaborated with us. They offered to include me in beta testing and I traded some notes with their product development director but as my car is not on the road at the moment I declined. We obviously shelved our project too, there is no competing with the might of Z1. From the work we did, it will be interesting to see how these do. There is a lot more than meets the eye with creating an accurate and safe MAF translator. I know from my internal discussions with them that they decided to base their maths on flow bench testing OEM MAFS to create their MAF curves rather than using the VQ tables as defined by Nissan and used by tuners. The key comes with understanding how the ECU is expecting voltage to fall within the VQ table ultimately though and their calculations and outputs in relation to that. Adequate shielding is important too and I know Selin had issues with electrical interference with HID ballasts in particular with their V1 of the Selin translator. I am sure they will work great, given they are clearly taking their time with development and testing of them and they have vast resources at their disposal.
June 3, 20241 yr Delayed as they are waiting on harnesses, enclosures and brackets. Mid to late Q2 this year I was told (back in Feb). Meanwhile someone has developed one which is being well reviewed over on the american forums. TwinTurbo.NET: Nissan 300ZX forum - z32 dual MAF transmogrifier - second batch
