Could be a bit long but worth reading...

Got stopped in a hire car last May on the A55 by an unmarked pig mobile. Vectra!

He pulled me at Abergele, told me I'd been doing more than a tonne in places but would give me the benefit of the doubt and put me down at 95mph. OK, bonus!

Negat court appearance for that, fixed penalty.

Only problem was that I'd sent my license off to DVLA when I moved into this house eons ago and they responded with "You now have to replace your license with a photocard jobby!" at the cost of 20 squids.

So I never got round to it. Sue me!!! LOL :D

So I had to produce my documents at the local bacon brigade inhabitance within seven days and pay the fixed penalty of 60 squids and have me license endorsed with 3 penalty points.

So I go down to the local cop shop and can only produce the cover note for the hire car which was in the Mrs Turbos name but has me on as a named driver, also a letter from DVLA about my renewal and the photocard thing for change of address. This had my driver number on it. So negat MOT certificate, negat insurance certificate or driving license.

Bitch behind the counter tells me that I should have been arrested at the roadside for that speed. I said "Are you havin' a laugh love? I've been done for speeding in the past and I can't ever recall being arrested on the spot for it!", so she takes offence at my attitude and puts me down as not producing license, insurance or MOT.

OK, upshot is that I asked the guy who I'd been hiring the car off for the past 9 months or so for the documents. He tells me that it's against the law to provide the hirer with said documents as I the hirer could then be in a position to do a runner with the hire car and have all the documents in my posession. Fair enough.

So I told queen bitch at the trotter shop to phone the hirer for the information she required.

I send off my 60 squids to the fine peeps with my counterfoil from the copper and about two months later I get my cashback with the counterfoil.

I ring them up and they say that because I have not submitted my license I will be receiving a summons through in the post.

I get the summons, they wanna do me for driving without insurance, failing to produce my license at the roadside, failing to produce MOT etc.

So I was due in court 18 Dec 2002. I rang in and told them I was sick, couldn't attend and could I have an adjournment.

Get a new date for 2 Jan 2003, are you havin' a laugh??? Rang up and said I couldn't make it and could they give another date?

Get my next date through for 9th Jan I think.

I rang them again and told them that I have been out of work for a while, I can't afford to attend and can I send in a statement?

OK!

So I sent the magistrates court a statement explaining all of the above, result? I have to pay the 60 squids and my license has been endorsed at source at DVLA with the points!

My point? What a waste of tax payers money. I provided the court with the insurance cover note and explained why I, under UK law, could not provide the documents requested and that I'd informed the dip shit civvy on the desk about this.

When I had my Merc and got stopped in Stevenage I didn't have my license, girl at the cop shop in Stevenage told me that if I gave her my driver number she could just ring DVLA and confirm that I held a full license and that was the end of it.

Red tape or what??? Law and the courts in this country are sh1te!

Good to know you're a decent one F.T.! I have to admit that the vast majority of the dealings I have had with the police have been with pretty decent coppers. I've only encountered hassle on one occasion from some little dick-weed just out of Hendon.

As I've mentioned before (sorry to be boring) I've had 14 accidents on bikes. The police turned up to 6 of them, and every time they have been polite, concerned and supportive.

My main problem is with the system that takes over once the 'fire-fighting'(sic) has been done. I've been splattered all over the road by both cars and vans jumping red lights, changing lanes without looking and turning accross my path on straight roads! I've even been smashed into by a drunk driver on Chelsea Embankment at 5pm on a summers day.......and NOT ONCE have the buggers ever prosecuted. (well they did do the drunk driver, but it turned out she was the wife of a judge and when she failed to turn up to court the whole thing was dropped by the cps:mad:   )

Anway, I think our coppers generally do a good job. Especially when you consider the insane and constantly changing rules they are supposed to work by, and the fock-wits they have to put up with on a daily basis.

We're all human and all have 'off-days'. Having said that, there's always more than one of them present on the street, and they can't all be p1ssed off at the same time, so one should be able to impose reason on the other (especially in the cases mentioned!!!) They've certainly all got the hang of good cop/bad cop:rolleyes:

You do meet the odd copper whose a barstard, when i was a boy racer imost of the coppers hated me, but cos i was working in a petrol station after and whilst serving my ban, alot of the coppers showed me a great deal of respect for admitting i'd been a twat and serving my punishment and learning my lesson (well more or less anyway).

I did have one problem, (2 years after getting my licence back) with one officer but as F.T says you get the odd bad egg as you do anywhere. I've met F.T (whose not fat:confused: ) and he is a thoroughly nice bloke copper or not.

Personally i'd love to be a copper, except for the fact that my driving history has put pay to any chance of that.

Sorry Mas, only skimmed through the thread and didn't read your post until now mate.

Disgusts me to be honest!

This isn't in the same league as what you have had to endure but my Bro took Aidan Piers to court over his sh1te car valued at 10K that nearly killed him and his, at the time, pregnant Mrs.

He was told as far as I am aware that if he took the case into court it would send them under.

Upshot is that they still owe him money and they are still trading with a 24K Porch on the forecourt!

Feckers!

Sometimes I really hate this sh1te UK!!! No wonder so many people are moving abroad! Sucks! Period!

Hey Fella's , i am by no means a Cop hater at all, they ,like the Firefighters ,Ambulance staff and Doctors and nurses are in the main thoroughly decent people doing a job that they feel will make adifference. BUT! what i am annoyed at is how the motorist is a soft target and it does appear that the regular SCUMBAG seems to get away with it, i,m sure it must also be very frustrating for the policemen on the ground too!

So its the powers to be that are wrong not the policemen , who are following orders most of the time, in my case .well it was down to an inexperiened policeman , but i dont bear the whole of the policeforce a grudge ,No not at all! I dont really know any policemen as i never ever come into contact with them , and i,m sure that regarding my unfortunate incident most of them would agree with all of us. Oh by the way the Scum that damaged my car ,according to the local paper has been in Prison twice since that incident with me once for burgalry & once for a Mugging with two other people on a middle aged woman, i just wish now that i had broken his wrist and worse.

Regards to you all
