Hi guys, bought myself a Z32 not really knowing much about them. I remember being taken for a spin in a TT Auto back in '96 which  left an impression, so when I was given the opportunity to buy one I obviously ignored all doubts running through my head and bought it.

Anyway, this one has a club sticker in the window so I'm wondering if anyone has any info on it's past history or even if there's an owners thread on here?

I've got a fair bit of bodywork to look at, currently it's about fifty shades of red.  Has a vibration in the drive train, noisy valve of some sort from the back of the engine bay, pretty tired interior and several switches dotted around that I've not idea what they do.....

Excuse the state of my garage ?

Welcome to the club Marshalliom and thank you for choosing the  premium membership. As a premium member you are entitled to a membership pack so send me your details in the link below and I will send you a pack.

As for your new Z I dont recognise it from that picture. Is it a short wheel base or long and was the last owner from the IOM ?

The vibration is maybe the propshaft. You can get a one piece prop now that does away with the vibration.

Thanks Gaz, I'll fire the details over shortly.

It's a 2+2 TT manual that I brought back from the UK on Friday.  I had it delivered to me at the ferry in Liverpool, so bought unseen pretty much, and  came from around the Rugeley area.

Hi welcome to the club, good luck on your project.

Here's a few more. Not quite sure where to start with it yet, looked underneath and it seems to have 2.5" stainless system, ECU has had some work from the looks of it and engine idles nicely.

Needs the passenger inner cill looking at, rear passenger arch and a couple of other places need attention too.

Got the seal of approval from a couple of guys on the boat back over though.

Would love to know who the previous owner was though so I can find out what's been done to it.

I havent seen the car before, but I would hazard a guess that the previous owner has painted the bonnet....!

I think its had its doors replaced as well, the red on the doors looks slightly different.

Welcome to Zed ownership and the club! We are all helpful and some of us are even knowledgable! These cars are not cheap to run and maintain and the biggest killer is rust. That is the first thing you will need to spend all of your money on and then the bank loan you will be applying for.... Im not sure if its the picture, but the nearside arch looks like it has already gone. You will need to check other places such as all along the sills. Under the battery in the engine bay. The corners in the engine bay where the suspension turrett moulds into the wheelarch. A lot of rust can be prevented if caught early enough, but if you can see it on the arch or sills, normally its too late due to the design of the inner sills.

Also check that the TeeTop drains are not blocked and not draining into the sills as this is a very quick way to rust out the inner sill and flood the fuse box by your feet.

If you need anything, dont hesitate to ask!

P.S well done for buying a red car, we all who are in the know, know that red cars are the best and fastest....??

The feller who ran Zed World is retired, but he still has access to all his records. You could drop him a PM on here and he will be able to help with what history he has of the car.

Yeah, the bodywork pretty rough and thankfully being a classic Ford guy I've got both a dustpan & brush and a welder so I'll get stuck in when the time comes.  Noticed some rust on the strut tower just behind the HICAS valve but apart from that it didn't look too bad under there.

Thanks for that, I'll chuck him a message and hope he's got something on record still.

Jimmer at Powerzed now has all Zedworld's old records - give him a call.....

....And Jimmer remains the ZX-pert; pretty much all of us take our cars to him when they need attention ?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
