Hi all.
So I’m now in the position that i need to replace my turbos as the seals have failed.
I can’t afford a garage to do it, so I’m going to have ago myself.
Has anyone done this themselves and can offer advice? Im planning on getting a second set of turbos and taking them to midland turbo to get rebuilt so they’re ready to go when I start.

Any info appreciated!

cheers

The only person I know that has done turbo swaps with engine in is Jimmer at PowerZed, so probably best to ask him for advice.

Pull the engine.
Whilst it might seem easier to do with the engine in, some of those bolts won’t have been undone, well, ever and a few a pig even with the engine out. Plus the fact that you will find other issues.

If you’d had it all out recently and knew what was going on down there, then yes you could do it but I assume you haven’t and you don’t so it’s best to do it properly. It’s no where near as big a drag as you’d first think.

It can be done - but Jimmer is the expert, so knows all the pros and cons. If you're doing it yourself, you might be better off pulling the engine, as Steve says!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
