Hi guys, been looking at ways to decrease the brake pedal travel on the zed, this come from driving a modern car daily with far less pedal travel than the zed, so I end up nearly going through the windscreen the first few miles on Monday morning. The zed stops fine and has new brake fluid ( after getting the brake pipes replaced)

I’ve seen the upgraded bmc banded around saying it has a larger piston to stock etc, do these actually make a difference? Or are there any other ways to decrease pedal travel?

Not much of a review because I have not driven the car on the road yet but I recently replaced my leaking BMC with the HFM part with the larger bore piston. Quality of the part looked great but cannot speak to improvement of brake feel yet unfortunately.

Are you sure all the air is bleed from the entire system?

Yes, all air is bled, it took my neighbour (who owns a garage) best part of a day to get a decent pedal, the brakes work fine, it’s just the difference in pedal travel between the zed and my 2016 Audi, I just want to try and level them up a bit

The reality is I’m afraid it won’t. I’ve got new brakes all round, from a newer car, braided lines and a new BMC and a brace. My brakes are good, they feel ok. The stock BMC is already a big bugger.

Compare them to those of a modern hot hatch and they feel different. There are certain parts of the design, such as the ABS being in the boot. Modern cars are engineered to have sharp brakes, they zed and older cars like it have progressive brakes. It’s sort of a trick to make new cars feel like they have better brakes than they do. I bet your Audi is FWD to?

When you say the brake pipes have been replaced do you mean the flexible rubber lines to the calipers?

i've had 3 brake pipes replaced (the ones that run down the drivers side) as they rubbed together and one burst, I also had a set of braided hoses fitted as the rubber ones were original and were going hard.
