I read this article a while ago. They are cheap to maintain. Its just when things go wrong it starts to add up!

I wish! So let me take a look at mine!,

March 2020 (covid time) New discs & pads all round. Full cam belt change. Auto to manual conversion + full clutch & light flywheel. All brake lines changed. Two oil changes. 6 new coil packs & spark plugs.

Not sure what regular maintenance this covers ?

July 2019 till today miles covered 3K if dry today then add a few more miles ?

that’s life with a Z hay ho!

I wouldn't class cambelt and clutch as annual maintenance. But if you did you need to divide the cost by the amount of years that the belt and clutch last. So let's say the belt was £400/7 years = £57/year. Clutch was £300/7years = £42/year. Disc&pads £180/4years £45/year. That's £144 plus an annual service (£200) plus a bit more for "other", it's not far off, I am of course completely making up these numbers! As for tax/MOT/insurance....is that actual maintenance or running costs?

I put everything in my app (service, MOT, tax, fuel, cambelt, if it costs the car money, it's added in the app). Last year was expensive as the car had EVERYTHING done to it, including some paint correction, but here is a screenshot of my summary of ownership so far

The longer I own the car, the cheaper it will work out of course, but I won't show the wife this!

I should also point out that car cleaning products don't get added and I have a lot of them. It was too hard to work out the split finances as all the products get used across three cars and in different amounts (the TT is smaller than the Zed, but the legacy is bigger) so there is technically another expense there.

oh and yes I am sad! ?

It's an app called fuelio. It's on the play store. I assume they have "an fruit uPhone" version but I use the magic green robot. It breaks down the costs even more than my screenshot, you get graphs and everything!
