My insurance is about to expire and the renewal for this year has gone £150. Any names for a good company where I can get my import insured.

Thanks

John

Well,

I tried...

Direct Choice (Taylor price) - £940

Ambrose Dearby, Graham Dearby - £1300 or more

Adrian Flux - £900-£1000

Hill House Hammond - Well over £1000

Norwich Union - can't remember - either loads of cash or no chips

Greenlight (Highway Motor Policies) - £850

guess which one I went for!

Did anyone else get insurance with Greenlight

Also try 'A Plan' Insurance...as they will insure grey import 300ZX's

I am not sure about modified cars though!

I have spent a week phoning companies for a Jap import (pearl grey but I don't know why all of the insurance companies don't like imported grey cars!! :-0 ). It's a standard 2 seat targa. I have quotes ranging from, unquotable, £5000, £3500 many at £2000 and two at £1600 ish. Priveilege were the cheapest for me with only 2 years NCB at 21.

Seems that the fall of Drake insurance at beginning of August has caused huge rifts in the high risk auto insurance market.

Good luck to you all in finding the best quotes, I know how hard it is, and sympathise with anyone in this situation.

Cheers

Paul

well, my renewal time has come around now, and i have got :-

Greenlight using Highway £710
Privilege £1354
zenith £1073

So guess which one i am using too, cheers Jez.

Privilege gave as good a policy as Highway (track time, mods, extra audio) but just too expensive.

31, full ncb protected, london, no points, small mods

My stock+exhaust renewal with Admiral (but with Cambs postcode) was £612. My london postcode wouldnt have been much more. Very good for stock car insurance, IMHO.

i have just spoken to greenlight again today to take out my policy, and the guy said that he had had a few calls from the site.

However, he did say that they were for imported cars, and they cant offer a competitive quote on imports yet, but can insure them via Norwich Union.

But apparently, Admiral and Privilege are having a price war on stock imports at the moment.

Privilege and Norwich Union will both do modified cars, uk or import.
