I wasn't doing any more than 44mph according to my speedo on the 200SX & the camera flashed several times.

BUT, I was driving towards the camera, ie., the camera was on the other side of the road facing me.

There was nothing else on the road at the time as it was 1:20am!

I thought they couldn't do you from the front. (oops, that sounds rude:rolleyes: ) So what the Fook is going on?!!:(

If they try to do me then I'm going to say that it was a friend who was over from the States who borrowed my car, F***k them!!

As I've said before I'm not a Traffic plod,so am not sure about this one!

But I'm going to work shortly and will pick the brains of some of our fellow(traffic) bods, shouldn't take me long!

And if it's any consolation,we get done by the cameras as well, even when we are 'on a shout'! (f*****s!!)

I'll post again tommorrow with all that I have gleaned.

Cheers,

F.T.

What happens when you guys get done then?? Same as the rest of us? Points and fine? Or is it dismissed by the powers that be?...especially if you were 'on a shout'??

Regards

Robert.

Will only get stopped if we can prove why we were driving at speed at that time i.e. incident log etc.

If not ,yes we get a double whammey of fine and points on your driving licence and points on your police driving permit.

So it's not like it is on telly,is it!

Cheers,

F.T.

Happens to me everyday on the way to work! YOU WONT, I REPEAT WONT get a ticket!

If you do I'll shave all me hair off!

Cant say fairer than that!

Right I've got copies available of the guidebook now, if anyone wants it the offer's still open

Is that smoke coming from the scanner?!

Pete

Havent they got 12 days to send a letter to you. Any thing longer than that and they cant prosicute because you can just say you cant remember who was driving what and at what time nearly 2 weeks ago.

I know how you feel.. Friday morning my postie dropped off a nice letter informing me I had been caught doing 49mph in a 40mph zone. Worst of all, I knew about the gatso, as they have only just put them up. Add a dodgy clutch and I was double gutted as I've been driving extra slow to try and save said clutch.. But strange thing was, I got caught on Monday (last week), and the same day I got the letter (friday last week) was the day they painted the white lines on the road for the gatso??? So the only thing I can assume is there must of been one of those mobile cameras in the layby down the same road?? It sounds more suspect as I write this!! But the letter said there was photographic evidence, but I could only see it if I decided to go to court to contest it. But if I do go to court, theres a good chance my fixed penalty will increase. WTF!!

I'm not sure wot to do.. but it will proberbly involve grabbing my ankles at some point:mad:

Mark

Just to let you know, the gatso's are down the Braywick Rd!!

I think that is wrong. If you are accused of anything you have the right to see the proof before you goto court.

I think they are trying to pull one on you.

Stuart

Going back to the original post, you may find the camera was in 'mimic' mode where they flash randomly when they detect passing traffic regardless of speed i think that some cameras do this when they are out of film or sometimes done pureley as a deterant.

Ive aslso heard that if you get the flash youve got a 1 in 8 chance of getting the envelope through the door.

Failing that you can glue you letterbox shut!

Good luck with it.

The threat to increase the fine is very wrong, and I have heard this before. But I think, and I am not sure, that in some (many) cases they cant be bothered to fight all cases and so drop it if you fight back and ask for the evidence, (a friend wrote across the form "I am contesting this") but ,this is my original point, I think you can change your plea after you see the photo and so avoind the potential extra fine.

IMHO

Sorry Ajay;)

Happend to me loads of times and I never heard anything from plod. I think just about every main road in West London has cameras these days, although they are only in 'accident black-spots' and not used for revenue generation at all:rolleyes:

I think if it flashes you from the front that it is due to 'overspill' from the radar on the camera as they are only supposed to film you from the rear(oooer:eek: )

Shaunmac ,from what I've been able to find out, most if not all has been answered by all these splendid chaps(and chapess's).

1) There are cameras that can record your speed when you are driving towards them(but they are rare). They flash twice!

2) The 'normal' rule is 10% +2mph,but unfortunately it depends on who sets it.

I would like to say a whole lot more on this subject, but as anyone can read it......I'd better not.

If you want to P.M. me then please do.

Cheers,

F.T.

If they have photographic evidence you are within your rights to see the photos before it goes to court and you don't have to pay for it.

I simply wrote a letter and got sent the evidence FREE.

Another point - if it's a MOBILE camera and the letter will say on it what you were caught by, then you also have the right to check the calibration evidence of the camera.

They must be checked at the START of the shift against a car that has ALSO been calibrated (with certificate to prove this) and again at the END of the shift, with the SAME car.

You can request to see this evidence too all BEFORE it goes to court.

It's 14 days NOT including the day of offence. However, they are unofficially allowed 17 days to allow for delays in posting.

The drivers survival handbook, biggest load of bollocks ive ever read I nearly wasted £20 on it once but sent it back and got my money back. Streetwise also keep sending out loads of bullshit get rich quick crap too once they get your address.

Shaun, was it going towards Conwy through the single lane tunnel or from the other side?

I got flashed going towards Conwy ages ago in the Z, I lost concentration and next thing I knew the dreaded flashes. Me Bros Mrs phoned NW police who told her that those cameras don't have film in very often.

I never got anything through.

You dont have much luck with speeding you.

Didnt you get done by an unmarked police car on an hour before the law changed saying they couldnt use unmarked police cars for speeding?

Ajay, I think you are right, 14 days normally and 17 for delevery problems. But they cant blame slow post office for the extra days. The extra days are for if you have a change of address or the car is a hire car.
