I'm thinking about buying a 300zx non turbo. I didn't know they made them until I saw this one.

The power isn't as good but the price is.

Everybody tells me I'm a lunitic for even considering it.

Can anyone help me?

Is the car as good as the turbo one?

ps. any other information will be helpful.

Hi,

I've just sold my Non-Turbo car, very reluctantly! They can be fast cars, if you get a good one.Don't bother with an automatic, as they are too slow!

My car was a 5 speed manual, with a cat-free exhaust system, and it went very well, although not as well as a Turbo car.The sound from the exhausts made TVR's sound wimpish in comparison!

At the end of the day you get the looks without some of the Turbo car's problems...But after a while you may want more power!

Speak with Eric, he has both

As Steve pointed out..I've got both, but since I started modding my twin, I don't drive my NA very often anymore..LOL !

The NA is a very nice car, it's just as much as an eyecather as the TT and it's fairly quick as well.

It's faster then 90% of the cars on the road, but just don't go teasing Porsches 911's and stuff wink.gif.

It's more economic then a TT...with current fuel-prices this could be something to consider.

You can even do a LPG conversion with a NA ! (don't even think of doing that to a TT)

The NA has less (expensive) things that can break down (no turbo's, no HICAS, etc) and

also the engines of the NA seem to last forever..I've heard of NA's with over 280000mile and still going strong !

I'm not sure about the UK, but insurance for the NA is cheaper also.

One warning: If you decide to buy a NA, DON'T think of upgrading it for increasing power.

Apart from an exhaust for a nicer sound, it'll be a waste of money !

Ok, for the TT...if you want to be faster then almost anything on the road...buy a TT.

The TT's tend to be a bit fragile on the mechanical side though (especially the higher mileage ones)..but then again, which supercar isn't ?

This makes it pretty hard to find a good one.

Powerwise the TT is easy to upgrade..for around $2000 you'll have around 400 horses under the hood.

Well...I'm sure I forgot a few things, but

I hope this helps you to make a decision. smile.gif

Hi,

Japanese spec. NA's did have HICAS 4 wheel steering as an option, by the way!

Once the non-turbo engine is wound up, and the variable valve timing kicks in, you can leave a lot of cars in your wake...I used to regularly burn off a Porsche Boxster on the motorway, from 100mph onwards!...hence my current driving ban! biggrin.gif
