Yes a new 98 spec gearbox.

Yes a new 98 spec gearbox.

Good decision - stronger synchros on those. Previous owner thankfully did it to mine and there’s nothing like having a silky smooth shifter.

I did research about the 98 gearboxes and seemed like the best thing to do, as I only paid £600/£700 more for all those new bits, than I was offered for a 2nd hand kit in the uk. In USA they are ripping out their manual gearboxes for the 98, cause they say they are that much better ?‍♂️

Yes definitely as the 2nd hand kit will have an old used gearbox of unknown condition. My car had a manual conversion around 2010 and the previous owner bought her in 2017 - soon after purchase he replaced the gearbox due to crunching in the common 3rd or 5th I think it was. Good to buy these new OEM parts whilst they're still available and in the grand scheme of things, for such an important component, it's well worth it.

Anyway keep us updated as you progress ?

One of the best up grades for a Z.?

Agree, had them on my red Zed. Thinking of going 99 spec front lights in the future , but not 100% if it’s a straight swap or some wire adapting needs doing.
