Magnificent Motors - Eastbourne 22nd - 23rd May 2021

I have added this into the calendar on the forum. We can apply now for either individual car entry or as a club. I will be free that weekend so will be attending. If we could get a club entry like Simply Japanese that would be excellent. Link below:

https://www.visiteastbourne.com/magnificent-motors

"Magnificent Motors is established as one of the biggest FREE motoring spectaculars on the south coast. With more than 1000 vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, buses, and more expected to display on Eastbourne's Western Lawns and Wish Tower Slopes with live music entertainment in tow throughout the weekend!

The long established free motoring event regularly attracts interest from over 40 car clubs across Sussex, Kent and further afield, with the likes of Aston Martin Owners Club Area 16, East Sussex BSA Owners Club, East Sussex Stag Owners Club, Ford Consul Capri & Classic Club and many more gracing Eastbourne’s green lawns."

So I've clicked on the "enter your car club" option and it says more information will be available soon about entering your club. I'll keep us updated on this thread as more information becomes available. There is an opportunity to join the cavalcade, a short drive along the seafront from sovereign roundabout to the showground. It is fun and you travel with other car in a line, do people want to do that as well?

Tickets are now available to book, however I am trying to get us in as a club otherwise we will be parked all over the show and not together. They are asking for a few details:

1) how many cars (i put 10 so far)

2) Length of space in metres (10m)

3) Width of space in metres (10m)

I think thats enough space for 5 cars in 2 rows, if not I can request more, especially if more people confirm

Got a response:

Hi there,

Thank you for your recent expression of interest to exhibit your vehicle club at Magnificent Motors 2021.

Due to the current and expected restrictions that the event will have to operate under, we will be extremely limited in the amount of vehicles that we are able to display and also we are only able to operate over the Western Lawns this year, rather than the additional Wish Tower slopes. We are only able to allow a total of approx. 120 vehicles per day, down from approx. 700 in previous years. This is due to having to install a one-way system for all those attending, including spectators as social distancing will still be in operation.

Due to this, it is with regret that we will have to decline your wish to exhibit this year.

We appreciate this isn’t the news you were looking for, however we do hope you understand and are still able to attend the event in a spectator capacity.

We are extremely hopeful that for 2022 we will be back bigger and better than ever and would love to have you back then.

Looks like we will have to apply for next years show, sorry guys. My suspicion is that they will give priority to the "car clubs" that pay to be there, the local Jag and Aston dealership for example....

We can all still have a meet up that day and visit the show?

Pity, but as you say try again next year. I'm not sure about parking the car away from the show however.

On another similar theme this year's Simply Japanese at Beaulieu on 25th July is going ahead and should be (at this time) be outside the stage

four (21st June) lockdown lifting.

Simply Japanese would be great to go to - do a club entry if you can. The world of wheels sounds interesting and close to home for us Tom!

So I popped in to this one this afternoon, either lots of people had already left or hadn't bothered to show up as there were lots of empty spaces marked out as exhibiting cars

I was down there on Saturday. I took the day off work so that my friend and I could go for a visit. I had applied for club tickets and individual tickets, but were both refused due to the organisers limiting numbers because of social distancing. I got a phone call at 09:30 on Saturday morning saying that due to low turn out numbers, was I still interested in showing my car. If so, get down there asap which I agreed to. The reason it was half full I suspect was due to them denying a lot of applications to show cars and then not anticipating the drop-out rate on the day. Having said all that, had a good look around the cars and even got 11 photos and 6 nice comments about mine!
