Discovered today that the ignition barrel on the Zed is goosed. Key can be removed at any position etc.

CZP sell a JDM one, but states for Manual only. My car is an ex auto, converted to a manual a number of years ago. I don't know how the conversion is done, so wondering if the manual lock barrel would work?

Ah so that's what it's for. Right. I should have just googled that. Lol.

Time to strip out the cowlings and see if the design looks the same as the CZP one.

Although I could always see if anyone is selling a full lock set from a breaker.

My Slicktop was a converted manual. So I assumed the push to release button was just standard as it's what I was used to. Lol. Oops.

my JDM manual has the push button to release the key, but mine was manual from new. I had a uk car that I think was manual from new and that didn't have the push button.

Never seen a zed without one of those to be honest.

The auto just adds an extra park lock on top of that.

Looking at the above barrel, which I hope to buy soon, I would say you're right Lee.

Once I'm home from sea I'm going to pull my ignition, see if it looks like the above, buy it if it does. Then pull all my locks and get them re-keyed to match the new ignition cylinder.

All my zeds have had the key push release. I was told its a anti-hijacking feature (along with the seatbelts in the doors) that the japanese like to have

Further to the above (and without wanting to start a new topic) does anyone know if there were changes to the ignition barrel throughout the model years?

Are the physical shape and connections the same? (Loom plug aside).

I'm 300 miles from my car so can't check before I go order the new barrel from CZP.

One last query on this.

Will a Ignition barrel from a Manual fit in a original AT car that has been converted to MT.

I can get a full lock kit (ignition/doors/boot and keys) new from Nissan. But don't know whether I need the AT (car built as an auto) or the MT (car is converted). If everything bar the "park lock" is the same then a MT set should fit fine I would guess?
