Hello.
I’m not exactly a newbie but I shall say I am.
I joined here many years ago when I had a blue 300zx lwb tt manual. Over what must be +10years and many cars later, I’ve returned to the one car I could never get of my mind, obvs the Z.

Marking the turn of UK independence, I thought it fitting that today I picked up my Jap import Z. This time a 1992 lwb na auto.
I can’t be arsed with power chasing anymore so it will get a little attention. Has come with an exhaust, coilovers, and lots of damp. However there is minimal rust that I can see and has a few teething issues.
currently has had a new alternator and and that’s it.
Sitting currently at 94,400miles (I’ve converted that as reads in KM still).
Has a skirts and a front bumper which are not to my taste, it will be going stock body so items are up for grabs.
Vw Nardo grey Wrap (not professional).

tonight I plumbed in the new heater matrix hoses so it blows hot air and albeit fiddly as hell, replaced a split water pipe that was under the plenum ?.  Was fine until we tried the lazy auto burnout, but needs must. And put a genuine MAF on it.

reset the TPS and idle, yet it missing at idle, and on very partial throttle it stutters like crazy. Unless it’s under load then it seems to be fine, therefore next on list is:

plugs, service, timing and clean. Plus Remove carpet to dry out, then reassess.

Then will be to sort the lights out. Seems that main beam is always on, no headlights, have brake lights, no rear lights, (fixed the indicators as was a poo connection) and work out why there is no clock lights.
my guess is the previous owner that replaced the heater matrix hasn’t connected all up. But I thank him for doing the heater matrix behind the dash as I hate behind the dash jobs.

cant think of much else (other than a big thanks to my mate for help and coffee this eve). Other than looking forward to being back on here and seeing some lovely motors.
cheers all

Aron ?

(does any one know who this car may have belonged too in the past?)

You can buy many used parts from Paul at Banzai Breakers. I can and so will a lot of other members recommend him. ?

Methinks you need to go through your footwell and engine bay fuses and correct any incorrect ampere ones, certainly one in the footwell is blown which throws main beam on, it’s a sort of get me home at night setting.

So, my foot well fuse was a 7.5. I changed that to a 10 as should be.
I then traced the wires and found melted ones, so stripped them back and replaced them. New bulbs and all is now working well.

Issue I now have found is, if the lights are on and the car is running, i turn the ignition off and the car remains running.
If I then turn the lights off, then turn the ignition off it will turn the car off.
I feel there is some wiring issues afoot here and I will slowly but surely work my way through them.
next however is:

coilpacks, spark plugs, timing belt, front crank seal, rocket gaskets and exhaust gaskets and vacuum hose replacement as I keep finding split ones.
amazing this car is running at all really and I’ve already done 200km on it ?

Anyone Here have a full, working original loom for a 92 na 2+2 do they....I’m thinking mine will need to be removed fully and replaced. It’s been butchered over the years, thinking this would be the easiest cure without further tampering/amendments ?
currently putting new belts, seals, Rad and hoses on ?1A9FA6C4-6E5D-4961-9ADB-A276745C01FE.thumb.jpeg.0d3c1039418e7fde019ccacc82254289.jpeg

I have a 96 na loom that is in very good condition. You would need new style injectors/Cas & Ptu for it to work though.

Is that because I have a series 1?? (Learning still)
