Following one of my wheels getting popped, I decided to change all 4 tyres as the car seemed to go sideway/wheelspid car too easily which gave me a little lack if confidence.  Did have Yokohama tyres but they were on the old side.

Anyway, changed the tyres, and it still spins up too easy.

Just after people thoughts, do you think i should look to change the suspension and possibly drop it down a little?

At the minute the car has some yellow Koni struts.  I do have some coilovers somewhere I could put on.

Does it spin up and run straight or does it want to fish tail? If it’s going straight it’s probably a heavy foot, wet greasy cold roads etc etc if it’s fish tailing...

Mine went through a scary stage of wanting to fish tail and I pinned it back to the subframe bushes.
You won’t achieve anything positive by simply lowering the ride height, it could be one of the shocks is failing. I’d get it up in the air and have a good look for worn components and if there’s nothing obvious have the alignment checked if not done recently.

What tyres have you put on? Mine spins up very easy and I’m just waiting on the tred running out then switching to Nankangs.

Have you checked tyre pressures since fittment of new tyres? What pressures are you running? What were the

driving conditions when you experienced loss of grip? Newly tyres can take a few miles to settle down and scrub off

their smooth fresh surface.

Yup - I second Andrew's comments....

...But the brand and quality of tyres will also play a major part in taming the RWD beast. I had brand new Avon ZZ3s on my first Zed, when I bought it - and the rear wheels would light up at the slightest opportunity. I replaced them with Goodyears and all was well; they only span in wet conditions, if I was too heavy on the gas.

I've tried a few brands during my ownership - and Goodyears were always consistently (forgive me) good. Likewise, Continentals. Dunlop SP Sport were OK until they got down to 3mm..... But despite my initial experience with Avon, I tried their latest ZZ5s after a friend recommended them - and I am suitably impressed. No scary moments, sound grip, longer lasting than the Goodyears and reasonably priced.

….Oh, and they also have little "Z" logos all around the outer edge of the face; a nice touch on the Zed, I reckon:classic_biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks everyone.  Sorry I took so long to reply.  Been emptying my shed and having a tidy out.

Anyway, will try and answer all questions.  First, @Stephen, I do have a heavy foot, but that's Definately not the problem at all!  The black Z is like double the power and I have much more confidence.  It will soon up more too easy, so I feel like I'm feathering it.

@Gonzo12c and @RichardS - due to it being a bit spinny and the tyres age (years and years) i decided to go for new ones all round.  But due to the sizing, i really struggled to find tyres that would fit both the front and the back m, but I wanted the same around.  I wasn' going for stupidly expensive but did look at the assymetric etc, but I couldn' find the same tyre in both fitments.  Anyway, I went with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3.  I have some ventus v12 ones on the back of the black Z and I'e had no problem at all so they seemed a decent mid range choice.  Richard, I think I did look at the ones you have from a previous post you'd made but I don' think I could get them or the reviews might have put me off.  I can' remember tbh.

@AndrewG - tyre pressure is 34.  Could be something to do with their newness i guess but I've not really felt like it was an issue when I've had new tyres before.  Conditions were probably slight damp but I wouldn't say cold.  But the black car finds it absolutely fine.

For some reason I just don' think it seems right.

They should be decent tyres too Lee - perhaps wait until they have worn in a bit.

Yeah, they were rated A for wet performance.  It' deffo the car IMO.  Probably worth going over the suspension bits.  I was just wondering if it was dropped a little at the back whether people thought that could help?
