Now that the new system is in place and nearly fully operational i want to get your views on hows its put together.

We still have loads to change but as the members make this place your views 100% count.

In the coming days a few of the main pages will be populated with information like :

Home Page - A snapshot of the club which needs to be updated weekly.

Membership - New membership details page making it even easier to join.

Blogs - This could be the new Premium Members section to display the work they do.

Classifieds - this is a new speciialy built app which works like a real store rather than modified forum.

Gallery - This is a fresh Gallery / Garage system as the old one could not be migrated.

Calendar - This will be populated with all the events the club is envolved with.

Couple of things noticed.

My signature only appears on my desktop view of the forum and not on my mobiles. Is this a settings thing?

Is there a way of showing someone is "online" in their post(s). Like the little green dot in VB?

Added a plugin for the user status on posts, if a user is online the profile picture glows green.

Also fixed the signature issue. ?

I kinda like the instant notificatons i get at the bottom of the screen.

Anyone else getting those with a sound as it happens?

I love it, it looks so much more modern and up to date. Havent had much time to play around with it yet, but loving what I have seen so far

Few more changes I'm working on. 

Trying to get the banner moved back to the top right and search box below the nav bar. 

Tried it today and managed to screw it up so next time I'll work on a copy of the theme rather than the live site.

Can you try it now.

The group setting was to lock editing after 5 minutes.

How do I set the thread display preference from Sort by Votes to Sort by Date for ALL the threads I view?

On the first post of the thread there is a filter at the bottom right side. 

I know that, but how do I set it so that ALL the threads I view automatically display in cronological order?

Ah right, 

It's per thread, rather than a default for all. 

The standard members help section is the only area formatted with the question and answers vote system so it shouldn't effect any other threads. 

OK, that's where I first noticed the phenomenon. I posted a reply last thing yesterday to a sub question and came back on to find it had

disappeared, only for it to have moved because of the "sort by votes".

As these threads are usually built up of conversational responses I think it would be preferable to retain their cronological order by default.

You can see the effect in this thread by toggling between the two ordering rules:

I thought it would be a good idea, but i can also see the issue it creates.

I've turned the feature off for now.

I disagree, if that were true, we would all be wearing flares and driving around in Morris Minors. Move with the times, there is always room for improvement and inovation in anything we do!

Really enjoying the new theme.

One thing I was wondering now it's bedded in is whether the forum would benefit from some consolidation? There are so many unused sections it feeds into making the place feel a little dead. I feel like consolidating to a much smaller number of forums would help to drive engagement and make the place feel more alive too? 

In the new activity / unread content, every new post is listed individually rather than just listing topics with multiple new posts as one item
Another forum I use started doing this a year or so ago and I really don't like it. If a topic has had lots of posts and it's a topic your not interested in then it's a lot to scroll through, and if you are interested then you have to find the first reply somewhere down the list

Can this question be revisited? I’m trying to set up some kind of feed browse the forum with. I have filtered my content, but I can’t find an option to only show a thread with new posts once in the feed, rather than the feed being bolstered with multiple posts in the same thread. Is this possible?

This quick video shows what I mean, you can see the multiple posts of the same thread appear and when I click condensed, it still shows each post but with no preview, avatar etc:

In contrast to what I’m trying to achieve on Tapatalk, it will only show each thread once, it’ll let me know if it has unread content but also doesn’t disappear from the feed once I have read it. It’s basically a list of everything that is posted in chronological order, but importantly only shows each thread once.

I can understand what your trying to do but cant get it to work that way either.

What we want is to get it to display the last unread comment for each particular thread rather than them all.

but, once you have set up your streem, clicking the piece of paper top centre always takes me to what I want, where as clicking the 3 line drop down menu and selecting activity, unread content took me to what you describe

I've made some changes and i think it works alot better :

At the top right side we have Latest Content;

This will show everything in the system from the last 4 weeks, unread content is in bold.

The top Activity menu has similar preset streams like :

Latest, Unread, Started & Replied

Also added the custom Streams menu at the bottom which show everything you decide to save as custom.

The default is 'Latest Content', but you can overide that by selecting your own stream.

Much better, thanks Lee ? In the filter there is an option to take you to the first unread post when you click on a thread, which is good. However, when you go back into that thread afterwards, it always takes me to the first post, instead of the last. Am I missing a filter option for that as I can’t see one?
