This morning when first started the engine was running a bit lumpy when cold then fine when warmed up then when I got to work it was idling to high. What do I need to look at ? Temperature sensor ?

Listen!! It’s time to get rid Gaz ill have it collected early next week mate you don’t need to sort anything :tongue_smilie:

I had exactly the same problem when I had the green Zed and it turned out to be the MAF.

If you change the temp sensor and the problem still exists MAF is the suspect. By the way what was the weather like that morning when it happened. ?

Its definitely the temperature harness to the ecu as the plastic plug is cracked and loose. But will keep your advice in mind if a new harness fails to cure it Tony.

New temperture sensor and harness fitted and all is good again :)

The old sensor harness was held down with a cable tie till the new one arrived.

The clip was damaged and very brittle.

Old and new.

The coolant sensor harness also disintegrated so a spade clip was used on it till a new one was ordered.

All fitted and wired up. I soldered the joint in the wires and shrinked wraped it then taped it all up.

Nice one Gary - I did mine a couple of years ago, for the same reason as you!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The heat in the engine bay drys out any plastic and makes them brittle. I always lift the bonnet when I get home and put the Z in the garage to let the heat out but after 26 years this plug needed changed.

It’s such a shame that we can’t get the tubing and cover to go over new plugs. I would have thought a variety of heat shrink tubing might offer more protection and look tidier than the black tape?

I do have larger diameter heat shrink at work but forgot to bring it home with me when I changed the harness and plug so used tape which is not ideal. Maybe put it on later to tidy it up.

Good idea - I always forget to do that.....!

Hmmm - another good idea; might have to try that as well.... If I ever decide to dress up my engine bay. Although I have started to tidy a few little bits under there:wink:
