Seems I missed somewhere about members making donations to the forum, was there a post?

 

Take it, that it is to help with running costs etc? and the diminishing incoming cash stream from subs.

 

 

Times change and people and places can become Dinosaurs like and not changing with current trends, Woolworth and pick and mix come to mind ( for older members)

A five subject forum !

 

 

Ok with a small smattering of other well visited but not highly commented on posts and that is it ?? I mentioned this ages ago and the result was the “what did you do to your zed today” post was closed ( finally !!!) .. BUT, it was like a red light to the forum traffic so was reopened, what is wrong with you guys ? ( members I mean) can you not be bothered to make your own posts? even Funki si recent ( now ) thread about his trip has 350 + views with less than 30 comments, I mean a road trip across Europe in a Zed like his is legendary and should of been the top topic the past few days, but no again its one of the top ( stifling a yawn ) fives....again

 

 

The monthly stats for new members now is meaningless as it gives the appearance of a vibrant and well subscribed site, reality is take away the 5 post subjects above and well its not...

 

I have no axe to gring, I sold my own zed over 7 years ago and left the Zedworld workshop for early sunny retirement near 5 years ago, but I have stuck around and still contribute where I can but now with the Facebook activity increasing more than the forum which is more a sign of the times and owner profiles ( younger in the main ) I guess ...where next for here ?

 

Is there any plans to do anything about the slipping away or is a dignified exit to Facebook planned? so much of peoples time created this place over the years and it turning to dust after 15 + years is painful.

 

Don`t expect to make any friends with this post but if this is not discussed then that is exactly what will happen no good sticking heads in sand about it..

Yeh hes got a 350 as well. Hes just had keith do some paint on his zed, new front & rear bumpers & skirts. Thursday should be fine mate, text me a time & I'll make sure hes there.

The good old days are gone now with big post counts and big attendance at shows. I tend to look at life as the glass is half full so maybe we now have quality over quantity. But it would be nice to see members react more to threads being started and opinions posted.

 

I agree - we do our best given the circumstances, not to mention embracing the phenomenon that is Facebook, which is why we brought in the sub-committee last year. To inject new life into the club. Still, we remain reliant on our members though; hence we have the AGM, so that ideas can be put forward and shared with each other....

I wonder how larger proportion the current advertisers/sponsors raise towards the costs of the site? Obviously in the past there was money in the kitty, we all remember that buisness. Increased foot fall will help bring in advertisements. We’re have all the traders such as Japspeed gone?

The whole traders situation does need a review; as some traders just cannot justify the cost - even though we reduced the subs, depending on what the trader wants for the privilege. However with regards Japspeed, I don't think they supply many 300zx parts these days - their exhaust system has long since been NLA; and I haven't seen them selling 300zx radiators anywhere these days.

.....................…There is no single right answer to how we keep the forum alive.

We can keep changing things, knee jerk or considered, to changing trends.

We can keep adding or removing privileges, permissions, value, etc

 

But from our experiences so far, there is no step change reaction to anything we do.

 

It can only be kept alive by people WANTING to keep it alive and using it.

I brought a rad from them last year but yeah they have reduced thier range so to speak. Kinda seems mad that after all these years Zcetre still aren’t a sponsor. The likes of Z1 and CPZ as well.
