Good evening all,

With my insurance renewal looming I thought I'd do the usual rounds of phone calls and price comparison sites. However, given my past experience of insurance companies and market values, I'm keen to insure with a more bespoke company with an agreed valuation. Question is, how do I calculate how much my car is worth?

Now I have an idea of what it would cost to replace the car, however if anyone else can shed some light on how they determined the value of their zed then I'd the input.

Thanks

i just looked at the current cost of obtaining a good condition similar spec and age car to mine direct from import, then added a little extra to cover the extras that are installed.

but mine has not had anything like the amount of work and parts added as some others.

list all of the extra parts or work performed that add value (not servicing costs etc, but rust treatments etc) and add those type of values to the car as well.

i am sure if you over value it, they will respond back and tell you, or just charge more for the agreed valuation?

in my case, the valuations have just been accepted as submitted, but mine isnt a show quality car

I currently have an agreed valuation for £25000 with Lancaster.

The way i worked it out was to imagine it was a complete loss, what would it take to rebuild as is.

For me personally alot of you know this has already happened to me in 2015.

My current valuation i went in at £27,000 and the insurers came back to me at for the £25,000 which i was happy with.

Just make sure you give as much pictures of evidence and a history of receipts to prove it.

Thanks for the replies guys.

My Zed hasn't been modified - beyond a manual conversion, so there's not a great deal of invoices or receipts to keep a track of.

For me, I think the best thing to do is look at the cost of importing something a similar mileage and spec.
