90s spoiler brackets for new fibre glass spoiler as old one rotting

Hi guys,

I have a 1990 black manual TT with 56k, I have taken my old rotting spoiler off due to it rotting and bubbling the paint on it, I have my self a new fibre glass one (same shape with the brake cluster space in the middle), the problem I am having is finding the 2 large square brackets that hang outwards for it, I cant find anything similar apart from ceiling brackets!!!

Are these sort of brackets sold on ebay etc... Please help me find them so I can fit my new spoiler on as its fine ass is looking shabby.

Thanks.

You’ll find that the fibreglass spoilers will need quite a lot of sanding and fettling to fit and they’ll need bonding on, they don’t use any of the fastenings of the original.

Thanks for the response guys. Will have to bond, I bought some heat and weather proof binding and sealant for air gaps for it already but just wanted to screw it on. Thanks though x p. S it is like that red one.

….Bonding is the only way for the fibre glass replica - screwing or bolting it on will certainly end in tears!! I have a FG replica as well - and after seeing Simon's, Gary's and Andrew's, I would replace it with a brand new OEM spoiler in a heartbeat!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So this is the fibre glass one, I used the old 2 rear centre bolt holes and bolt holes for the rear centre light cluster, I am yet to bond it so not using it until I have done that, however I think it's as good as the old one, lighter as well so the boot lid doesn't hit me on the head now haha.

This is the fibre glass one, I am yet to clear coat it and also bond it, the front sides aren't bolted due to it not having the fittings, so on the far side in the image you can see it's resting with a small gap which the binding will sort. I used the old boot lid bolt holes (the 2 centre ones) and drilled holes in the fibre glass behind the rear central brake cluster to give extra rigidity, and drilled 2 holes above the light cluster where the old original spoiler holes were to fix the light cluster to. Overall I am happy however it was a lot of messing around. Ut now I don't have a heavy rotting spoiler.
