On Friday 10 May I bought an autobox of a chap on eBay called Joshuajockey [60]

He contacted me & said he can deliver it.

He said I’ll cancel the eBay sale & pay him cash on delivery! (£250)

When my mechanic came to fit it having checked it apparently it was u. s.!

I’ve tried to contact him requesting a refund but as expected no response.

That was last Tuesday.

I don’t expect I will hear from him again!

Complain to ebay and get him banned for breaching their terms

Oh no, sorry mate.

 

Do you think that even if you had brought it properly via eBay you would have had more luck getting the money back from the seller? I doubt it, so don’t beat yourself up to much about that. I hate buying “big” items on eBay.

 

I thought you wanted to go for a manual conversion?

If you buy on ebay you either use a credit card or paypal, both of which offer payment protection

I don’t expect I will hear from him again!

I am still waiting for foreign car spares to get all that’s needed for a manual conversation.

The 80k cambelt & all has been done, I took the Z out two weeks ago & it’s running great.

MOT time too so booking it in today.

I will send him another message today see if I get any joy.

Sorry to hear Art. Curious though, if your car is going great as you mentioned above and you have a manual conversion planned, why did you buy this used autobox?

I'll write a letter, not sure it will do any good though.

I have txt msg him twice with no answer & wrote a negative on eBay.

Also I told the garage to scrap the gearbox, so I don't have it to return if he wanted it back!

Off on holiday Friday that will calm me down.

think this is the guy who was on facebook mate apprentley a few members had issues gettin things off him or they were broken, just hope you get it back on the road fully working soon mate

My Z is back on the road & back from MOT yesterday.

I am fortunate to have a mechanic in Hythe who has worked with Zeds for years.

He got me a replacement gearbox, its the third one he has fitted on mine.

Also he did my 80K cambelt along with everything else changed.

Very low milage 68,000 miles 300zx twin turbo automatic gearbox fully tested no leaks whines gears all select as they should never slipped complete gearbox from a 1995 jdm import 60 days warranty supplied.

Mmm...was the actual issue with the box?

When I first took the box to the garage he said it was not a later box because the sump pan was different.

It didn't have the torque convertor with it.

Apparently the issue with the box was the drive shaft the one where the TC gets attached.

I didn't ask any specific questions to why it was u/s

That's about all I know Jeff.

There was two sump pans used, one for twin turbo and one for non turbo, there was also a mix of both with sump plug and some without, difficult to tell the age of the box by the sump, and always the torque converter from the donor box should be used or cross contamination will occur.
