Hi All

Hoping you can give me some advice as the 300 seems to have developed a vibration which is noticeable at 70mph, if I go over this it gets considerably worse.

It starts about 60mph, so I did the usual of get wheels balanced and that hasn't solved it so I'm thinking maybe drive shaft or prop?

I had a single piece prop so I can rule out that its the joint in the prop.

Anyone able to shed some light? If it is drive shafts anyone know where to get these nowadays?

Thanks

Luke

Hi where do you feel the vibration, front floor, middle, steering, break pedal, any noises.

Is this since you’ve got the 300 out from “winter storage”? You might have flat spotted the tyres if it’s been standing on the same spot all winter.

One other thing I can think of is are the brake discs warped.

Discs are pretty new and Im getting not shaking when braking or pulling to one side. Its a baffling one this is been doing my head in for a little bit now haha

I use the car every weekend and atleast once in the week. This could be the case though if parked up for periods of time previous to me as I rarely go on the motorway which is when I notoced it other day.

Sorry I didnt put this in the original post I get a bit through the steering wheel but it feels like its from low down in the car, feels towards the rear or below me.

Difficult to pin point really, sorry bud

Has the vibration been there at these same time you fitted that new single piece prop?

only saying as i have two zed and both have single piece props and since fitting them they both suffer with vibration issues wonder if there’s an issue with balancing of these ??

It was fitted by the previous owner bud so Im not sure sorry. Also I only really notice it when on thr motorway which is rare

Worth a check are your wheels standard or aftermarket, check fitment and spigot rings, if needed.

I hadn't thought about spigot rings actually, good call there and only minutes to check

Thanks

I'd look at that too.... When I fitted my previous set of aftermarket alloys, the "expert" in a well known tyre retailer said no need to bother with the spigot rings... He claimed the bolts would be sufficient to hold the wheels in place. WRONG!!! The car vibrated like hell at 60mph and over - just like the feeling of out of balance wheels.

I took the wheels off, fitted the spigot rings and hey-presto, smooth ride once more:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
