Hi since I smashed up my beautiful Green 1995 300, I have been driving my older 300 most of the time being my only car, I had to take it off the road yesterday fo some major needed repairs.

 

Lucky I still have the use of my brothers 911, seeing he is still living in Hong Kong.

 

I am so embarrassed at how I have neglected my car, but only doing 1 - 2 thousand miles a year and having a bad back (no excuse really) it is now time to sort everything out before the next MOT.

 

Having sold most of the parts I had collected, I have been getting ready with the long list of parts I now need, how the prices have gone up, can’t really believe it.

 

Started stripping her down yesterday, what a mess.

The only good thing about so much oil leaking is those areas are rust free.

  • While I rest waiting for my trapped nerve to get better, I have been slowly cleaning my callipers, my friend Took them off for me.   I also received my new front number plate.

  • Not much has been done, my friend put petrol in his diesel Saturday ruining my day, I had to sort it for him. Pistons in all callipers now, I also started the engine ran it up to temperature all

  • Car passed mot and is now taxed and fully legal. ?‍♀️??

I'd encourage you to junk those old style injectors for new-style/upgraded. Whilst they've been cleaned and now have a good spray pattern, the coil inside could be significantly degraded as many are when they get to this age. Whilst it's all apart, it might be prudent to upgrade/change if you have the funds.

 

I would like to but this time funds are tight, I have some bodywork to get done as well.

Bit more progress today, drivers side cams back in with new seals, exhaust cover is a real pig to get in with the EGR pipe in the way.

So funny how things come and bite you in the arse, only used the car a couple of times a year, and every bolt nut and bush fight to the death when trying to remove them.

 

So have ordered new tools, nut removal sockets and a 12 Ton Hydraulic Press, all attempts to remove bushes have failed so this better work. Getting the hub knuckles off is a pig as well, roll on the delivery and the weekend.

Hi last few days, lifters, cams, covers all back on, new seals including crankshaft.

 

New tools arrived, left rear hub off now and bushes in the arms removed, nice shiny 12 ton press works really good. I had trouble with the lower arm because it won’t fit in the press, trying to find drifts for small bushes is a real pain most start at 38mm bush is about 36mm.

The drivers side driveshaft just won’t budge, broke the new hub puller and hitting it with a large hammer has not moved it a mm. I will have to buy a stronger hub puller, still have front hubs to do anyway.

So much cleaning to do, don’t know if I can cope with it all.

 

My rear exhaust box baffles are rusted, I was very lucky to win 2 excellent Japspeed Boxes on eBay arrived today nice and shiny.

The best way to remove the rubber bushes is set fire to them using a plumbers blow lamp,Push the centres out after then hack saw through the remaining sleeve.

Well bit more progress, passenger side arms and top bottom drivers arms cleaned and sprayed, all bushes out of knuckle, also subframe cleaned and sprayed.

Drivers side drive shaft just won’t come out, purchased a 10ton hub puller but it was faulty, the centre would only turn 3 threads so waiting on a replacement real pain.

Today I started on the wiring, I removed some of the old tape and started re wrapping the wires with heat resistant tape, then put the plastic shielding back on ready for the mesh cover.

Finally got another hub puller, I asked the other company for a replacement and 2 weeks later got a refund, then I had to purchase another.

Took a few attempts but did the trick.

Cleaned the intake manifold, injector holes and changed the spark plugs, I must remember next time I’m at the garage to bring my kettle, those new fuel pipes just won’t go on.

 

So I got on with the front assembly.

Oh well I just could not get the timing belt adjuster to stay at 4mm, it kept going to 2mm after two turns of the engine, so I have ordered a new one. I can get on with putting the suspension back together.

Its not the tensioner that is the issue,fit a genuine belt and it will be fine.Had the exact same thing on a car in 2006 and only used OEM since.

Well my order came today expressed it. I had luckily added an OEM timing belt. Thanks Jimmer I can’t believe it, was easy to fit and gap stayed at 4mm, the other belt was tight when fitted that’s why I ordered both tensioner and belt.

As people have said in the past OEM is the only way.

Glad you sorted it,It was a Gates belt i had the issue with all those years ago.Looking good now though :cool2:

Hi been working hard last few days trying to get finished for the AGM.

 

Rear suspension together, I’m still waiting on a bush for the front.

Most of engine back together and some wiring done, going to move PTU to under nose panel while I’m at it, being an S2 unit has the conversion loom, so I will cut old cracked connectors off and connect new type to existing loom.

That was a back breaking day, I have delayed my brothers car going to the body shop till Thursday so I have till then, do or die. AGM?

 

All wiring connectors finished, maybe ready to fire up by tomorrow night. Still no sign of my front bushes just hope they turn up.

Been working hard on the car last few days, managed to get it started, I was surprised seeing all the wiring I did, no lifter noise, but it looks like cylinders 3 & 4 are not firing, plugs wet they are all new, all coil packs have power, so maybe I made a bad join on the PTU, will try again tomorrow too late now.

Found I had E3 & E4 on the PTU the wrong way round so fixed that, now running on all cylinders a bit lumpy but nice and quiet, that was the reason I pulled all the lifters to re build them. Tomorrow or today being past midnight, was my suspension day with Kent Motorsport then MOT, while running the engine there was an oil leak at the front, I had changed all the front seals and the crank one has started leaking when the engine is running, so at 10pm gave up, I needed to return my mums car, real shame so gutted so close to finishing.

 

I will now rest for a few days and try again.

Well after doing the crank oil seal three times I still have an oil leak, now I’m thinking I could have a hair line crack in the oil pump due to the problems I had getting the crank cog off.

Seeing my car on all four wheels with the Zeta CRD’s and running well apart from the oil, I have fallen in love again, will order a new oil pump tomorrow.
