Does anyone know if the black strip on the oem rear spoiler fits on the central 20 spoiler?

It doesn’t have the recessed edge for the top of the decal to follow like the OEM spoiler but the dimensions look remarkably similar and I think it uses the stock TBL(?) so I would suggest that it will. I think it’ll certainly improve the look. Although if you’re having any paintwork done, I would recommend having it painted on.

Having seen Si and GSC's cars with this done, I would definitely go down the painted-on route....

...The plastic strip does not age well - and becomes scuffed and dull over time, no matter how carefully you might wash it. I should have done this, when my Zed was in the bodyshop last year - live and learn!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've got a plastic strip so was thinking about putting that on if it did fit, would save giving Keith more work lol. Is your strip already scuffed Richard?

Not scuffed exactly; it's just looking a little tired with the swirl marks, despite lots of careful washing in the last 9 years. I put it on new, when I bought the Zed - and now wish I'd had it removed and got the area painted gloss black instead. Still, I can always get my local smart-repair guy to come and do it!

Get it painted and sell the plastic strip - just don't show potential buyers this thread....

I will offer it up but will have to wait until I get the car back. Will look better with it on I think, if it fits.

Tom i made a paper template to ensure the shape and fitment was correct then cut my own out, allowing extra on the bottom edge to wrap around the bottom lip. This way if you keep the template making a new one is easy you can choose whatever vinyl you want and change it cheaply later.

Now that is a fantastic idea, great job Ian [emoji106]

The plastic strip is a self adhesive decal, it’s not something you remove and sell like the perspex strips used with the later or no spoiler cars. Can you not just offer it up without peeling the backing paper off to see how it lines up, Tom?

Yup - I was referring to Tom selling the plastic adhesive-backed strip he already has, but hasn't fitted...

Ive asked Keith to paint mine Tom, I reckon the best alternative would be to get it wrapped in a black gloss maybe??
