Having just spent a King's ransom on my car over the last year I'm damned if I'm going to let something as trivial as winter stop me from enjoying Nissan's finest !! That and the fact that my Mrs said if i wasn't going to actually drive it then what the hell was the point and I could forget about using her car now mine is sorted !!!

However something that is cramping my pleasure is the legendary appalling headlights !! I'd be grateful to get any recommendations on the best bulbs I can use. It's a '95 TT JDM. Dipped beam, high beam etc please. I'm hoping that the latest possibilities available are a considerable improvement.

Much appreciated guys.

Just out if interest has anyone got '99/'2000 spec factory headlights fitted ? What are they like ?

Hi Mark,

I'd advise fitting an H3 HID upgrade to the dipped beam projector unit mate. You will rarely need full beam afterwards - but for when you do, a pair of Osram Nightbreaker or PIAA Arros H1 bulbs will compliment them nicely.

I haven't any experience of the factory HID lights form a 1999 spec car - but whilst the upgrade may be do-able, it's damned expensive; so the aftermarket HID kit is a more cost-effective compromise.

Don't bother with so called LED upgrades though... I bought a kit for Julia's RR Evoque as she does not have HIDs as standard - and in all honesty the halogen bulbs are way better!! Sure the LEDs "look" bright, when you face the front of the car - but they project less usable light on the road than an old oil lamp...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Oh, and stick with 4300k output; for a look virtually indistinguishable from OEM - 5000k at the most. Any more, and your lights will be too "blue" so much easier to see you have an aftermarket HID kit... Which is now not road legal:wink:

You'll most probably get away with the 4300k or 5000k lights. Even at MOT time, if you're lucky! The light is more useable on the road too; as the really blue kits tend to rob true light output and project less on the road ahead.

Have you tried cleaning the optics? It makes a big difference even with Halogen bulbs.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

When I had the green Zed I put Hids in the Dip, main and Foglights.

The foglights were absolutely magic. They would light the road ahea at a low level and and you actually see the road in the heaviest rain or fog. I tried putting 100 watt in the heads but that didnt make much difference so I put HIDs in the mains as well and that really worked

Dont think I'd get away with it now though !
