Guys, I hate to be an onion in the ointment, but this is a car club, not a political forum.......?

I have no issue with political debate - and will defend to the death, everyone's right to voice their opinion. But to balance the recent comments - and without voicing my personal opinion on the EU- fact is, the majority of people voted for brexit. Both in the referendum and in this very poll.... So any suggestions that the brexiteers are in some way less intelligent to the remainers is a little insulting to 67.74% of our members - if this poll result was extrapolated.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yes, you are right, Appologies if offense was taken by any comments on either side of the argument. Does show how polarising this debate still is though!

A lot of posts on here too much to catch up on now [emoji1]

Gets more attention than the average Zed post [emoji1]

Interesting to see people’s views though you get a real feel for the type of person they are or maybe just their view from where they lay their head at night it makes a big difference.

For me I’m out it’s a matter of national security for a start something which I have awareness of.

Yep fair enough Richard, my bad. Always go too far when it comes to politics, so usually try and stay out of it these days!

Many apologies as well if I've offended anyone. Never my intention, but I do like a good debate and I am genuinely interested in other peoples point of view. In my defence I did post in the non Zed discussion bit :D

Kind regards to all and I have found myself looking a Zeds again recently so you never know lol

LOL - and no worries guys.... Most of us know it's harmless banter - each to their own opinion I say, life would be boring as hell if everyone thought the same way?

But Pebkau, you need to get yourself back in a Zed mate....?

It's only taken four years, cost billions and will cost billions more. Yay. All for a blue passport now made in France. Yay.

Sounds shite to be honest. This so-called 'sovereignty' which has been the backbone of all these arguments is a dated and unappealing concept dating to a time were Britain and the world was in a very very different place.

I've still yet to see a single compelling argument in leaving the EU, not one.

The majority of the time, the UK got exemptions to EU policy, it got its own way a LOT.

This whole exercise has given the UK northing but a costly exit bill with nothing to show and reduced mobility. The insurance and investment policy that is the EU has now gone, we are going it alone like the selfish brat the country has been and to hell with everyone else. I just don't get it, I don't get this whole thing at all.

Regression and devolution is not the way forward.

That’s the thing Si everyone had their own opinion which is why we had such a split vote. EU and Brexit is different for everyone and nearly half the population are not going to be happy and will continue to drag on for many years I suspect.

I am happy we are leaving a conglomerate of countries which can never satisfy everyone equally. We are still part of Europe though. The future EU countries to join is disturbing to read though but like I say some people that will not be a concern.

Option 2 from my previous post then.

All bark and no bite.

I would genuinely love to see the so called sleeping lion awake, but I believe its just an anachronism, a hark back to days gone by when we made stuff and had an Empire. Which just will not return.

We were a global financial powerhouse, whether we remain so is the question, but £1.2trillion of financial assets have already been moved out of the UK.

I totally agree with Si (hi by the way mate), but the pair of us were fervent remainers in here.

Brexit is happening no amount of discussion and moaning will change that, so I suspect, Si like I is hoping it will work, but struggling to see how.

So far pretty much everything I have predicted to do with Brexit has been correct. So here's the next one for you. At the next general election Labour will offer an Europe referendum if they are elected. I also believe by 2030 will be applying to re-join, sadly without the influence and standing we had.

Other than that politics aside hope everyone on here is doing well.

May be a little while before I'm back in a Zed something else in the garage now :)

I am fully aware of geographical and continental landmasses Marty, but thanks. ?

No, it's no more a concern than national/home-grown security issues. I'm an internationalist and a purveyor of global unity for the greater good of all, not just one entity (the one I happen to live in) - things have to evolve and continue. No, you're right, you'll never please all countries, but you find common ground at that macro level just as you do at a micro level within country borders.

I desperately hope it will work, but as a country we've gained absolutely nothing from this.

The EU is finished its not the power house it used to be and without the UK pumping money into it they will struggle.

It's far from finished; little UK thinking the EU will struggle without us and dissolve? UK has more to lose than Europe will ever do and has already started down that path with various car plants scheduled to close, huge financial services moving to continental Europe - the UK's not the powerhouse that many of its nationals think it is and now all that is compounded by COVID. It's a sh*tstorm on gargantuan proportions. All because of a preference for blue passports, a dated argument over sovereignty, restricting European citizens' right to work and can apply a few of our on 'BSI' type standards and sell more what to whom, all those extra trade agreements? Global trade preferencing the UK over the entire EU? Who will favour investing? The trade agreements are quite hilarious, especially when comparing them to places like Australia etc which is what many pro-Brexit pundits have done - markets couldn't be any more different if they tried.

It is done now and I do just want to get in with it, but I will always be thinking that it's a huge mistake.

I would of course love to eat my words in 5-10 years when the mess that COVID has caused and policies and trade have had time to mature. ?

My very worn out EU passport. I still have 5 years left of this (albeit in name only), but I'll get a nice purple cover with EU markings over it to cover up the embarrassment of the replacement when I have to get one of those. ??

All in good jest gents - just venting not criticising your own personal decisions towards this - we all have different reasons for preferencing one thing over another.
