Do not normaly advocate additive`s but what you need is Wynn's Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment, we used it many times in the workshop on customers zeds and the results were always good and safer than using flush.

. . .and on that subject has anyone tried terraclean ?

Well terraclean is not an oil flush but an injector / valve / upper cylinder cleaner, any improvements will be be based on how dirty your engine is inside, and given the amount of detergents and cleaners in fuel these days, especially super unleaded, I doubt you would see any benefit, an old school Jag that has been lumping around town for 20 years then yes very likely dirty as hell and would see some improvement.

Thanks Jeff, with this valve treatment do I add it to new oil and leave it there, or do I change it soon after?

It is designed to be left in there so makes sense to add it to fresh oil if you can, that said that is not absolutely necessary, make sure your running the right oil too, any good brand 10w 40 semi-synthetic is spot on, do not be tempted to go for fully synthetic.
