Never done it before, and am reluctant to do so in case it becomes a horrible fiddly job that you get stuck half way through.

I have seen a few vids on youtube and there seems so many

bolts, clips and lines to remove, so should I leave this job to

an experienced hand?

Main reason for removal?

1) Have 1 bad injector which I see as a real ballache to remove as the 2 screws that hold it in place have probably been there for 20+ years that will probably end up with stripped heads and without the plenum removed will be impossible to get to!

So who's been in the same boat when facing the above? and what would you recommend?

If its had the plenum deletes done its much easier, if all the original stuff is still in place its a bit of an involved job but a good excuse to get the deletes done while you are at it.

Not 100% sure what deletes have been done but will have

a closer look, i'm just in that awkward position of not having

the first hand experience

I have done routine jobs like spark plug removal, balance bar

removal which isn't too bad, have recently done injector plug removal/clean up but the plenum pull is another step up.

I’d be inclined to give it a go with the dremel method first if the plenum has never been off! It’s quite likely that things would be damaged on removal, particularly the hardened fuel and vacuum hoses. If you have an old crusty harness, you also run the risk of introducing defects there.

If you do decide to give it a go, at the very least you’ll need an upper plenum gasket and the blanking kit for the deletes. I’d also recommend renewing all of the fuel lines from the fuel filter, replacing the filter, the fuel pressure regulator and the dampener.

Failing that, take it to Jimmer!

Thanks, I will soldier on and have a go at removing the problem injector first, will give it a good soak and hopefully the screws will open!

Definitely the dremmel method!

Use grinder & w d 40 to stop grinder clogging.

A pair of long nosed mole grips to break the screw seating.

Removing the failed injector will get destroyed in the process!

My first job I did on my z.

So... I used a grinding tool like a dremel, and then used a small chisel on the side of the 2 screws and out they came:) I have left the injector to soak overnight as it was hardly moving and didn't want to force it.

I'm pleased with my efforts and thanks for the advice guys!

Injector now out!, now have to get the replacement in!, so far pushing down is not working!

Lots of wd40 and a slight twist and push down be careful to not damage the new one of course.

All done:), car running sweeter than ever, thanks to everyone really appreciate people taking an interest to help / advise me!

Also had a good look around the plenum, still has the coolant lines to the throttle bodies and EGR valve pipework so plenum removal would not have been straightforward!

Is that SGT. C's old widearch shortie??
Yes:), and it sounds so sweet after replacing one of the injectors and cleaning all the injector plugs / pins on each injector, well worth the effort!
