So a buddy of mine did well at the BMW show at the weekend securing him self some rewards for the effort put into his car and sent me some pics, I was rather taken aback when I saw the trophy`s

Very, very nice quality and fitting to the occasion.

Now take a look at the many car and trader ones I am very proud and appreciative to display even today in my office, and wonder with the exception of the lower cup one`s why they are made of plastic ? this when there was £25k in the club account ! now I get it that the Bmw one`s there are sponsored and so the club is not paying out full cost, but then the amount of prizes they gave out was huge compared to our humble club.

Shameful really eh? and still some are wondering why the membership are not that responsive to meetings and competitions, all agreed we need to make the remained of 2018 and the next year a change of style but also quality.

Here is one of the better one`s, however this was given to me by a customer, he bought a zed with money left to him by his Grandad, spanked it on a zed from a dealer, the engine let go three days later and the dealer would not help him, that was until we got involved. I talked / pressured the dealer into paying for a replacement engine that we fitted for free, guy was nearly in tear`s ( happy one`s) when he collected his car, came back a week later with this >>

Shameful you say Jeff. I must say I was always very happy and loved any prize/trophy I received from the club. How much money does the BMW Owners Club hold in their account? I dont understand why you have to put down the club so much at a time when we are putting in lots of changes to boost the clubs profile and membership. We try to get nice prize's/trophy's at a good price as we are spending the clubs money and we need to be thoughtful how we spend it and mindful that in years to come these funds have to last us. But we will take your views into account and try our best to have better trophy's in future without going overboard.

I think next year we need to up the gain, I love the glass trophies and think the look great.

I think we should do a overall champions style cup that for every year that it gets won your name and date gets inscribed on it.

Perfect.

"Shameful" agree on reflection maybe the wrong word, how about "unfortunate" Gaz? that still says what I was trying to get over without been so in you face eh? and as far as the trophy`s I received in the past I did say " I am very proud and appreciative to display even today in my office" so keeping it respectful.

As far as putting the club down at this time of change, not quite but whilst the changes are been made it does provide a unique moment to share some illustrate past formats that were, well less than would of been expected.

See Gaz, these days I have a little voice in all of the club going on now that I am not a trader, own a 300zx or even reside in the UK, but what I am is a paid member who has been here since the inception of the forum and have like yourself seen many changes and corrections to improve things, and feedback was always welcomed be it positive or negative in times past.

However of more recent time`s that has not been so easy, the changes that are coming about now are great, and many of which I have spoken about in the past and received criticism for, check my posts it all there to see, over time I have kept repeating what some have viewed as little digs in here and finally it seems to be happening, such threads as>

Members v active members

Poor new thread count

Forum look

Trader apathy

The black hole thread "what have you done to your zed today "

Forum donation scheme ( what a mistake that was !)

+ many more, you see getting changes / improvements here has been akin to getting an appointment with your GP any time in the next 12 months with the typical security receptionist who`s job it is to be a stone wall !

Not having a go, just trying to keep the flow going now we have it rolling ...

For sure we are trying to do whats best for the club and maybe we do need a kick in the backside now and again but we do listen now. Gone are the days were the Committee make the decisions and tell the members like it or leave. We do like feedback and ask our members what they want. "What did you do to your Z today" is a perfect example as it is now closed (but is missed by some members) So many new ideas are being put into action and if we get it wrong we listen and put it right again.

These are changing days for the club so give us time to make it right and you will have a great owners club going into 2019.
