The end of Gaz's "what did you do" thread has left me feeling a tiny bit lost.

Where do I post up a tiny bit of info about what I did to my car.

It is just a pair of new tyres but it hardly seems worthy of starting a new thread.

????

Do it... we can discuss your choice and how good they are for performance or May be cost that others might benefit from knowing maybe.

Years ago for example I remember a good choice on a Z were fallen 452's which are now N.A.. So your voices could help people maybe

I have to say I will miss the "what did you do" thread too Pete. I felt it gave a little bit of interesting daily trivia

to follow on what people were doing with their cars. I imagine something like one might get on SM - news that

is here today and gone tomorrow. I quess if everyone starts up a "journal" thread to record their minutiae of

zed ownership things could get quite busy!

BTW - I found that I could search the very lengthy thread perfectly well using google's "site:" search term.

For example: Google - "What did you do" tyres site:http://www.300zx.co.uk

I think that sums it up very well Andrew. It was just a place to chuck up a quick snippet without any great effort.

That is one of the things Facebook does well IMO.

It’s part of the subscribed members forums. I would really like that forum to take off, be great to follow peoples cars. :cool3:

I think you will find a dedicated thread quite rewarding Pete. Sometimes your talking to yourself but it’s great to flick back and see where you’ve moved forward etc.

Thats one of the problems... its in the "subscribed" bit.

With only 150 members thats not going to take off...IMO

I dont think I will tbh.

I quite like the transient nature of chucking up a small bit of chit chat about the car and moving on.

Thats what Facebook does quite well.

Bit of stuff.

Chuck it up.

Quick chat about it.

Move on.

Tomorro is a new day

If this "journal " is a bit like the "garage" we used to have then look what happened to that.

I was a bit disappointed when that vanished as I had a "garage" at the time.

There is of course a place for longer detailed threads like I did about Bobgenies car years ago.

The two concepts arent mutually exclusive. I think they were complementary..

I dont follow the thought process behind closing the forums busiest and most used thread.??

Im not complaining. Its not that important (to me anyway)

Tomorro will be another new day.

If I wake up and get dressed without any assistance then it will be another great day.

Just like today has been.

Interesting thoughts there Pete. In an ideal world, you would have a journal thread for your build and whatever you do to it could go in both that thread and the “what did you do” thread (if it was still open!)

Yes, I did that once or twice just so I had all my information in one accessible place. I enjoy going back over my journal from time to time just to see the progress and keep me motivated and I’ve not even done that much yet.

Some members want it closed some want it open.Do we need a poll?

Oh no please No !!

Some haven from Facebook (ism ) is required.

Jeff

We need more posts in the Journal forum.

We need more new threads being started...….

That's why we reluctantly took the plunge and closed Gary's thread:oops: I was always a big fan of the "What did you do to your Zed today" thread - but ultimately we feared that its popularity was its own demise.

So we closed it, in the hope that people would start new threads about what tyres they had purchased, that they had waxed their Zed to within an inch of its life etc....

Where/what is that??

Remember you are talking to a non savvy user!!

…..I don't know for sure either mate - so I'd just start a new thread in Zed-related discussion and hope that some like-minded folks kept it alive for a few days by adding their thoughts.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

We probably do but Im not convinced that killing off the most popular and busiest thead is going to help.

Time will tell .....Im happy to give it a go.

Are you going to monitor to see if the number of new threads per week increases??
