Just thought I'd introduce myself... Bought my first 300zx a month or so ago, I first fell in love with this car when my mate bought one 18 years ago and I finally decided to take the plunge and I'm glad I did... Every bit as beautiful as I remember and a dream to drive.

Picked it up in Scotland... 1996 300zx tt jap import.... Glad to be part of the forum.

Looks clean mate.
She's not to shabby.. Just a few areas where the paint has chipped and I had a leak last week which made abit of a mess... Apart from that.. Prettier than my girlfriend [emoji23]

Looks great dude!

Completely standard and not messed with from what I can tell too

Welcome to the club matey. I live near Hollingworth Lake so hopefully we will see you at one of our NW meets. As tom says next one is the one at the Concorde hangar manchester airport, hope you can make it.

Looks like a nice, tidy, late spec 2+2 twin turbo, nice purchase. Do you have any plans for the car going forward?

*Other than putting the wheels on the correct sides as the lads have pointed out! They’re handed to aid brake cooling and the eagle eyed amongst us will pull you up on these fine details! [emoji1]

Nope.. It's completely untouched... Apart from a mini dvd player above the CD player which I think isn't supposed to be there... I did briefly consider a remap but I really don't think it's needed.

[emoji23] [emoji23] Thanks to everyone for pointing out the wheels I genuinely would never have noticed... The brake discs and pads need doing so I'll probably pop them back on the right way when I do that

I'll try and respond to everyone but I'm sorry I don't know how to multiquote... When is the meet at Manchester Airport I'll be happy to come if I'm free?

At the moment I have no plans for the car with the exception of with it being a jap import rust worries me, especially with it spending some years in Scotland.. I debating getting it wax oiled and repainted in the future due to some chips and scratches.. Aside from that I think I'll be leaving it as standard with the exception of maybe fitting a turbo timer.... For the time being I'm using it as my weekend leisure car.. I'm just that happy to own one... Literally my dream car

There are some key areas to look out for where rust is concerned but the most important is in the rear sill sections where the targa roof drains live. If you remove the rear quarter interior trim panels, you can see down into this gallery. You can also stick your phone down the hole with the flash on whilst recording to have a gander around!

An underseal and cavity wax is always a good idea as long as it’s done properly and that’ll keep it rust free for another 23 years! Once you’re happy that the car is structurally and mechanically sound, tarting up the paint would be the icing on the cake. Although in the pictures it does look perfectly presentable!

My personal opinion is to not waste your time and money on a turbo timer, I think their philosophy is flawed. I get the idea but by staying off boost for the last few miles of your journey, you’re doing the engine many more favours. The cooling airflow whilst cruising will cool things down after your spirited drive, whereas if you leave it idling, all the heat is going to build up and raise your oil temp.

Thanks for this.. I'd been told to let it idle for abit at the end of a drive for a few minutes rather than just driving slowly.. Luckily I have been forgetting... I have a quick question as I had noticed something that bothered me but have been unsure about it.. The vehicle has no boost gauge... Is this due to it being a jap import?

it was 97-98 model years I believe did not have a boost gauge (cost cutting?). Regarding the turbo timer, just dont drive the car hard in the last 10 mins of driving, just drive it around with low revs. That way there is air going through the oil cooler and cooling the oil, where just idling with a turbo timer, you are just moving around warm oil.
