Hi all, I have pulled out of buying two Z's in the past few months after going to view them due to being concerned about potential rust issues, patched up historical work and even recent new work that I felt was dubious.

My challenge is not going to get any easier over time. As a community it seems we know where to go for parts, we know reliable people for engine work but I have no clue who I can really trust to do a great job for bodywork. Do we know of any decent bodyshops that have done work on members Z's? Is there a club recommended trader etc? I am based in the Midlands where there are plenty of bodyshops. That does not mean they are any good. Location is not an issue really I would want to know that a job has been done right for the long term and im not going to end up with a rusted out Z in a few years time and dipping my hand back into my watet. I would rather pay the right money to get it done right first time.

If I am going to invest in a Z again I want to to keep it in good order. I so regret selling my old one a long time ago now even if it was to a mate.

I have thought about buying into some of the sounder Z's out there but hidden problems still worry me and I just know in time I will need the services of a bodyshop as these cars are gettig on in age. Allof this and now the new MOT rules that are coming in seem to makie it a minefield for buying such a vehicle these days unless it has a fresh MOT on it.

Lee at color code in redditch. He has not worked on my Z (yet), hopefully in the next 12 months, but he has worked on several other cars of mine and my friends cars too. He is a classic specialist and has people travelling all over for his work. He says he not the cheapest but he is one of the best and I can vouch for his work. He also have a 100% colour match gaurantee if that is something you are looking for and has been great for me.

Hope it helps.

Ive not used them yet but have been in contact with Davide about work being done to my car. I’ve contacted these guys as two at least two of the best cars in the club use them and have nothing but praise for them. Like you cost I’m of the opinion that I’d rather get the job done properly than “save a few quid” and try another body shop.

Good luck with your search.

The recent changes to the MOT barely affect cars like these. ALL cars have problems and need money spent on them to maintain them. Modern day cars on average probably cost more to repair than a Z32.
