You need to pry it open as you try and slide it out. I used two screwdrivers wedged in, and the a pry bar to try slide it off.

so i can pull the engine out, the turbo manfold on the drivers side is gonna hit on the way out

Have you dropped the subframe by an inch or so?

He's got no trans on it shouldn't need to.

You can unbolt the shaft half way up and it will probably give you enough room.

im guessing i need to undo the silver bolts and not the gold 1s for that i already looked at doing that, the gold 1s will come of, the silver 1s access is crap and were on solid when i had a little try

Iirc and it’s been a while, that inch allows you to come forward before you lift and gives the clearance. I’m sure looking at it it will be obvious if that is the case.

If your talking about the steering column Ali, those four bolts half way up are a pain to do with the engine out ey alone in.

my plan was to move the engine forward, this would give me better access to the driver side top nut on the gearbox, then get better access to the nut and take the gearbox off then pull the engine out , i cant take the engine and gearbox out together as i dont have clearance in garage .

Oh you still don't have that off?

Imo the extension method will let you get a lot more force in the bolt than a spanner from the top.

i dont wanna try the extensions anymore im worried the bolt will start to round of, so was gonna get a snap on 1/2 socket and with extra space with the gearbox moved forward get right on top of it so can put more force on it that was the plan anyways

I use a 6 sided socket with a swivel at the end (with electrical tape round it) so its completely square on the bolt.
