Hi all,

Just to let everyone know that from 8PM onwards tonight the forum will be going through some scheduled maintenance.

Nothing to worry about really as no front end changes to the way the site functions will be done.

Due to the way various service providers DNS servers caches IP addresses over the internet the site may appear off line.

This is out of our control but should be resolves within 4 - 6 hours.

Regards

Lee

Thanks for the heads up. Gives me time to arrange a romantic evening with the wife :tt1: and pick up some brownie points rather than watch/listen to “Eat well for less” whist reading someone’s build post.

No worries.

We are actually moving host and i'm running a full backup now.

The bit that takes ages is the TTL of the name servers after we change them.

The internet is heavily cached which improves performance but if you need make a big change

then it is 4 - 6 hours or more before all ISP's pick up the new DNS servers.

I'll make the change at 8PM on the old server then do a database export of the site.

Can't do it live as any changes made after the database is backed up will be forever lost on the new server.

If you took out all the incorrect information that Alic has posted and all the piss taking I have posted then it would probably back up 10x quicker.

Problem is there is so much shit talk from you all that it would take longer to manually erase it.
