For me the quickest route is up the M11 from Essex, picking up the A14 (and joining Craig) before heading up the A1 all the way to Scotch Corner and cutting across the A66.

This route isn’t the quickest for you guys travelling from the more central southern areas, it’s not too bad for Andrew and Gary but for Nick and Ian it’s a bit more of a detour?

Do you fancy arranging a convoy route or do people just want to head up at their own leisure? Craig and I could cut across the A14 to join a convoy at the M6 near Birmingham or you could head east and we take the A1.

Where are folk travelling from who are further North but might want to join a convoy?

Although I haven’t spoken to Andrew about it yet, I assumed we would probably RVP somewhere on the M40 before heading up the M6. Game for meeting you guys somewhere probably north of Birmingham

i will be towing my bike trailer, so wont be able to keep the same average speed as you guys...

although i would be happy to convoy up, you might all get a little bored..

we could hop over to the M1 Joel, and meet the others doing M40/42/6/1 at Donington services before joining back on the A1 later.

or meet on A1 after Rotherham if they take the same route.

else we all go M6 all the way

Most direct route is looking like M40/42/6, however knowing what traffic can be like on the M6 around Knutsford/Lymm and Preston (especially on BH weekends) I’m wondering if the M1/A1M maybe a better flowing option (I hardly use the M1 beyond Northampton)

That's certainly the route I'll be taking - no point in heading over to the east for M1/A1, then heading back to the west, once in the north...

Julia is at work until 1pm that Saturday, so I'll meet her at Aylesbury and then head up the A41, to join the M40 at junction 9. I assume you'll all be settled in by then!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I’d Normally agree, but according to Google it’s only an extra 10 miles distance wise. Just thinking about flow of traffic around the usual spots on the M6 May end up being much slower than using the M1 up to Leeds, A1M and across

I'd never have thought that, but you're right!!

I do prefer the M40 to the M1 though - and the M40 generally moves quicker... I'll probably follow my sat-nav on the day and just hope it works its way around the worst of the traffic:wink:
