Yea I believe that's it... Car is fine when cold but starting it warm it's running poorly until it clears.

Got a 92 JDM TT so I am guessing I have series 1?

Correct. Now's time to upgrade to a series 2. Instances of S1 PTUs going AWOL aren't quite as bad as people make out, however if you're going to replace it, I'd consider investing in a new style with harness adapter.

I was going to ask if I needed any kind of adaptor for a series 2 and you seem to of answered that :)

Id like to get the car working again so happy to take a series 1 but if anyone has a series 2 with a harness adapter that's the way I'd rather go.

In the first instance, have you checked the connectors to the PTU for corrosion?

Yes that's all been checked and they are not corroded

Genuine question, is that a symptom of a dodgy PTU?

The most obvious symptom, is the engine will cut out once it gets up to operating temperature; and then won't re-start until it cools down.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

There you go, one of the few faults I've never had  Cheers Richard :thumbup1:

....Yet!!!

I had the PTU go on both of my Zeds.....

This. Ive had 3 PTUs fail on me and all three times the car ran rough, misfired then cut out and never restarted until the PTUs were changed. Now the black car has a series 2 and has never let me down. The red one i think has a series 2, but better check that!
